A low rumble moved through the bears—uneasy, reverent.
Thorn stepped forward then, his broad frame tense. His eyes, usually narrowed with suspicion, were wide and burning with confusion.
“That thing beneath us,” he said. “That wasn’t Hunter tech.”
“No,” Ronan growled. “It wasn’t.”
Thorn’s gaze slid to Kiera—not fearful, not hostile.
Assessing.
“The Watcher,” Thorn said slowly, naming something none of them had spoken aloud in generations. “The thing the elders warned us about. The thing the clans swore never to wake.”
