“I’m not going to hurt you.” “I don’t know that. You say you aren’t going to hurt me, but the way you act sometimes hurts me. One day you treat me like you want me. Then the next you’re telling people I don’t mean anything to you. That we are only friends. I can’t take that. Not from you. I’m already broken, Dmitry. But you the power to shatter me.” His eyebrows wrinkled together. “Dani. For days now, I have been trying to tell you how I feel.”

I snapped. “Run it again.” “System integrity compromised.” The voice stuttered. Fragments now. Breaking. “Cindy?” I said sharply. No response. Then— One final line appeared across every screen. “Inferior architecture detected.” And just like that— Everything went black. Silence The room fell into complete darkness. No systems. No control. No backup. I stood there. Still. Processing. Then— Slowly— My hand clenched into a fist. “She failed…” I muttered.

My resolves breaks into fragments of dusts. Goddess help me because I am totally fucked. -----

My dad suddenly exclaimed, springing from the couch as the alcohol bottle he held fell off his grasp, shattering on the floor. Mum broke the hug as we both shrank aside in shock, staring and wondering what was wrong. His countenance showed how extremely shocked and freaked out he was. "What?..What is..." Mum paused and gasped abruptly, with an alarming countenance. A message must have been sent through a mind link, which I haven't been given access to, since I am yet to be an official hunter. That's why I'm left in the darkness, not knowing what the hell is going on.

“I’m useless.” The glass that held my world together let out a crippling sound as it shattered.

I stopped and looked back, puzzled. Seeing the complete lack of recognition in my eyes, Sarah finally broke down, tears streaming down her face. I frowned, got into the car waiting by the curb, and left without hesitation. In the rearview mirror, Sarah's figure, crouched by the roadside sobbing, gradually shrank and disappeared.
