Before my father was able to reach my unconscious mother, I ran towards her in a swift movement and sank my teeth into her bloody hand. My enraged father grabbed my shoulders and attempted to pull me away from my mother's already limp body, but the beast in me would not concede. I ferociously shoved him and continued on drinking my mother's blood to the last drop.

The ones from before your grandfather’s time.” He spread it on the table between us. “The curse was bound by blood. Ancient blood magic from the moon Goddess origin. The only thing that can break it is blood compatibility from a fated mate.” I looked at him.

“That day is not today. But we came prepared anyway.” I walked over to the center table and dumped the manila folder onto it. The weight of what I was about to say felt heavier now, with all three of them staring at me—Cassy perched like a raven on the armrest, Candy elegantly unbothered, and Jimmy typing already. “Here’s what we’re doing,” I said. “I found a curse. A big one. Blood magic. Ancient. Hidden. And tied to me.” Three heads snapped toward me like synchronized chaos dolls.
