Jessica said with increasing worry. “What did he do, Bryan?” Malachi asked him. “Blue fire,” Bryan said and looked down again as Jessica gasped. “What is blue fire?” Malachi asked as he looked over at Adara. She was lying next to me, whispering to me, crying as she did so. “It’s the strongest and darkest kind of death magic to use,” Jessica said with big eyes. She seemed suddenly afraid and that made Malachi worry even more. None of them, except Bryan, realized that I’d already suffered the consequences of killing with magic.

The second barely had time to react before Adrian pulled him into a chokehold, his struggles fading until he fell lifelessly to the ground. The alarms blared. Sirens wailed in the distance, the sound of law enforcement a reminder that they were running out of time. Adrian scanned the scene. The fire had consumed most of the shipment—Dante’s product, worth millions, reduced to ashes. It sent a clear message that Dante would receive loud and clear. But their mission was far from finished. Adrian raised a hand, gesturing toward the exits. “Let’s go!” Without hesitation, they dashed through the maze of flames and fallen bodies. He saw Julian dragging Ivy toward the hatch. "Dante!" Ivy screamed. The sight of her—the raw, desperate reality of her—shattered the last of Dante’s restraint. He dropped the shotgun and pulled a specialized incendiary device from his belt. "Julian!" Dante screamed, his face contorted in a mask of beautiful, terrifying madness. "Look at what I have become for her! Look at the sky!" Behind Dante, the horizon of the city was a solid wall of orange flame. He had triggered the secondary charges in the gas lines. The city was dying so he could have a better view of her.

I did and we immediately helped Nicholas up. “Dante threw gas all over the house and set it alight. He was trying to kill you,” I said as we walked towards the door. The growing fire began to cast an orangey hue and provided us light to navigate towards the door. “Dante? But Dante’s dead…”

Helena shouted, her voice cutting through the explosions. Malachi and Richard had barricaded themselves inside the stone building, surrounded by mercenaries using ballistic shields and rifles loaded with wolfsbane ammunition. Silas and Jax led the frontal charge, lupine bodies colliding against metal with a deafening crash. Dante leapt over a burning vehicle, landing among three hunters. His movements were a blur of lethality; he didn’t just disarm them—he eliminated them with the efficiency of a predator who had nothing left to lose.

Dante lit the fuse himself, a tossed flare that ignited the accelerant with a whoosh, flames erupting in a voracious roar. The fire spread greedily, consuming wood, metal, and merchandise alike, black smoke billowing upward in thick columns that choked the stars. Heat blasted outward, but Dante stood firm, watching the destruction with cold satisfaction. This was Alexei's lifeblood, his operations hemorrhaging, one inferno at a time. As the structure groaned and buckled, Dante turned away. "Load up," he growled. "We're not done."

Everything that happened caused chills to run down my spine. Dante was checking on his mum and sister who were both still processing the fact that a man who was considered their friend, and even family, did what he just had. The man literally started a fire in the building, not caring about whether or not there were innocent people locked inside. Some were still trying to escape for their lives as the firefighters tried helping them out. Dante was still shaken and I knew that he was more frightened than he was letting out at the fact that I was almost shot.

Adrian retreated, shouting orders. “Move,” Dante yelled. He grabbed Aruna and her mother. They ran. Bullets shattered walls. They barely made it outside before the building erupted in flames. The heat knocked Aruna to the ground. Dante shielded her body again. Always shielding. Always controlling.

As soon as we made it outside, we haven’t even made it to a safe distance, before another blast was heard. Mike jumps with me still in his arms and we lands at a distance. I can say we land in a safe distance. I turn and see the building on fire. In tears I watch the fire getting bigger and bigger, I turn and see Danteson smirking as he watches the fire with delight. His reaction left me with many unanswered questions. What was Jayden trying to tell me? Why is Danteson behaving strangely? Who is Mike's enemy and who is his friend?

Bianca’s POV The smell of burning wood was choking me, wrapping around my lungs like a chain. The flames cracked above us, and the chandelier, half melted, swinging loose ....finally gave way. I watched it fall, slow motion, like death itself choosing a victim. And Dante… he didn’t hesitate. He pushed me out of the way, his arm curling protectively around me before the flames swallowed him. My heart froze. “Dante!” The fire planks crashed against his back. He gritted his teeth, muffling his pain, and still...still...he kept his hand outstretched toward me. His lips moved, voice broken by smoke.
