It was so romantic.” Ethan smirked.

“I wasn’t expecting you.” She took a breath, meeting his gaze head-on. “I need to tell you something, Ethan. It’s about Carlos.” His eyes narrowed slightly. “Go on.” “I killed him,” she said bluntly, watching his reaction carefully. “He killed Eve, my friend, and I… I made him pay for it.” She took a deep breath “Carlos killed Eve,” she began, her voice steady despite the ache in her chest. “And I… I couldn’t let it go. I tracked him down, made him pay.”

She needed to see this, to understand the depth of Ethan's downfall, and to grasp the reality of the situation. Chapter 187 The courtroom felt like it was holding its breath. Ethan's voice cracked as he continued his testimony, each word seeming to cost him something. I tempered with the car break while Mavis's dad was talking to her, and clueless Mavis blamed his dad for three years, thinking he was the one that killed Ava, so stupid of him" Ethan said and laughed lightly, and all I could do was watch him as he confessed every single thing he has done.

Curled up on the couch, holding his feet closely staring at nothing. That was what Ethan did. He was still in his black suit, the one he wore for his Papi's burial. The cause of his death was still unknown, but it is suspected to be a homicide. All he could recall was the deadly sight when he had opened the door. Flashbacks of neighbors running in at his hysteric screams. Them pulling him away from his Papi's corpse. The questions of the cops, the paramedics and his funeral.

“Say your last prayers, baby girl.” Caelia looked at me, tears streaming down her face, her eyes full of fear and pain. It shattered me. The strength I thought I’d lost surged back. Without thinking, I hurled the axe toward Ethan. The strike was perfect, the blade burying itself in his forearm, nearly severing his hand in half. “No!” he screamed, dropping his gun and collapsing to the floor. Blood gushed from the wound, pouring out in waves. “No!” I rushed to Caelia, untying her and grabbing her hand. I started pulling her toward the exit, but then I stopped. I couldn’t leave just yet. I needed answers—answers about the man who killed my brother. I turned back to Ethan, fury burning through

“If you’re here to tell me again that the investigation is ongoing and sensitive and whatever else you are allowed to say, save it.” Reynolds sighs. “I’m here to tell you to stop asking questions.” There is no threat in his voice and that is what makes it worse. “I have every right to ask questions,” I snap. “A man I hired ended up dead.” “I know,” he says quietly. “And I’m telling you that pushing this any further is not going to get you answers. It’s going to get you attention.” I laugh without humor. “Little late for that.” He doesn’t smile, “I’m serious, Ethan. Whoever did this knew what they were doing. Clean with no noise and no trail and that doesn’t happen by accident.”
