The attack, the collapse, the loss. I pushed myself up carefully, ignoring the slight pull in my chest. My body still wasn’t fully recovered, but my mind? It was wide awake and alert. I got out of bed and headed toward the door, drawn by Kiara's voice more than anything else. The moment I stepped down, I saw them. Kiara stood at the center of the living room, dressed sharply even in something simple. Tablet in one hand. Phone in the other. Completely in control. Around her were three people. Two men, one woman. All focused and listening.

“You did, the moment you made the decision to banish her without consulting me.” “Her?” Kael dared to question me,like he had no idea who I was talking about. “Who are you….” “Kiara.” I cut him off. “I'm talking about Kiara.” The silence that followed was deafening, and I wasn't sure I could have had it any other way. “With all due respect…” Elder Kael straightened, clearly bristling. “With all due respect,” I cut in coldly, “who the hell gave you the right to make that call in my absence?”

The only one left is a girl sitting next to him who I assume is his mate by the way she leans on him. Her short brown hair was curled just above her shoulders and she eyed me curiously. Her eyes seemed kind and she gave me a small smile. Once the room was cleared, Killian leaned back on the couch, stretching an arm along the back casually. “That was clever, using your mother’s name. Definitely caught my attention.”

I said truthfully, darting my gaze around to catch sight of her friend. “Thank you Aiden. I am really glad you came out here to comfort me.” My eyes widened for a sec, but I was quick to brush off the surprised look on my face,the night had gone terribly, and I couldn't make it worse. “I am Kiara, Alpha heir to Raven stone,I am a freshman.” I stretched out my hand with a smile, “Welcome to AlphaBeta, Kiara. I am Aiden.” She smiled back, the dullness on her face disappearing.
