I finally saw the source of the blue light, my jaw dropping and eyes widening with disbelief, shock and more shock. It was a gated path just like the one leading to his mansion. Slowly, I notice that some are sick. It seems as if some of the water in the area has too much iron in it for the plants to grow properly so I slowly coax out the comtaminated water. Immediately the plants all turn a much healthier shade of green than they were before. I had not even been able to tell that they each had a reddish tint.

I can’t be that fucking lucky. “What. The. Fuck?” As the green glow is fading and people are getting to their feet, these bright patches of earth are lighting up, melting through the snow, and strange plants are sprouting through them in an accelerated growth cycle, unfurling bright green frondlike leaves and faintly luminous lily-shaped flowers. From somewhere to one side, I hear the alpha. “Darby?” As if his voice triggers it, the green mist around her clears and she drops lightly to her feet.

Satisfied, he nodded. He placed one of his hands on the nearest rune to him. It was colorless, but as soon as he touched it, it glowed with an eerie luminescent green, the same color as the leaves of the forest surrounding them.
