Dylan says. "I tried to understand what code blue means, but I'm not getting it yet, it's a lifestyle?" I ask him. "Yes, it's a lifestyle, every colour stands for a lifestyle, you'll know more about it, but we don't want to scare you by just telling you everything at once, it takes a bit of time," he says explaining things to me. "What do green stands for? A guy at work today was green and he sounded scared," I ask him. "Green is like...how do I explain this, have you ever played with a puppy? A very energetic puppy?" he asks me.

[ZARA] Call me insane, but it was the first time I really looked into his eyes. And really noticed how deep and ridiculously gorgeous they were. The light that sank on his face always tricked me into believing they were a sort of hazel. They were not. Weirdly, under the light of the room, and the shadows that captured his sturdy face, they appeared to be green. The green that reminds one of the fresh wands of grass and the force of nature in the wild.

And it was like nothing I’d ever seen before. The landscape was a tapestry of green, rolling out in every direction, woven with shades of emerald, Green, and forest that I could never have imagined. Mountains rose in gentle, terraced steps, each layer tinged with a hazy mist that clung to the peaks like silver. It was early, the air still crisp and cool, and sunlight broke softly through the clouds, casting a warm, spotted glow over the hills. The fog wound between the trees like a river of ghosts, shifting with the breeze and adding an air of mystery to the morning.

From green. To flashing red.

The tiny seed unfolded slightly. A faint shoot emerged. Not silver. Not gold. Not blue. Green. The first true green Ama had ever seen. The color of growing things. The color of futures. The Gardener's eyes widened. “Well…” She laughed softly. “That hasn't happened before.” Ama stared at the tiny sprout. “What does green mean?” The Gardener slowly stood. It reached for him and his fire answered. In a daze, I watched as they mingled and became one. Pure white and glacial blue intertwined with burning red, vibrant yellow, and glowing orange. It was majestic. My Vetur and his fire.

The warmth of the day coaxed the scent of crushed pine needles and damp soil into the air, a sensory promise of the growth to come. I spent the afternoon walking the perimeter of our clearing, observing the subtle, miraculous signs of the first green. The ferns were unfurling their tight, velvet scrolls, and the buds on the apple trees were swollen, tipped with a faint, hopeful pink. It was a chaotic, unmanaged, and utterly perfect system.

The day had barely begun, yet the sun was sneering from above. Professor Brown Sanders wiped his forehead with a bandanna and stared at the damp spot in the center of the fabric. Of all the colors he could have chosen that day, it had to be green. Green, like the canopy of leaves blocking the sun every now and then. Green, like the dense undergrowth weaving through the forest floor, carpeted by thick sludge of mud, rotting plants, and the droppings of God only knows what. With every step he took, the snake-like vines seemed to move, determined to launch him face-first into the putrid forest floor of the A****n rainforest.

Flying above the forest, looking down at my ancestral lands, I couldn’t believe how enchanted the woods were. All of the leaves were bright green, a vibrant emerald that caught the sun’s rays and dazzled, the leaves dancing in the air. The patches of grass I could see between the thick, brown trunks of the trees were also that same bright green color. Everything looked healthy and alive, which surprised me a little since the evilness of Verina Crow had so quickly blackened and killed the part of my forest in Montana that she’d touched.
