A second snarl ripped through the air.
Cerberus. He hadn't joined. Not yet. But his wolf stood at the edge of the stone, dark, big, and monstrous and silver-fanged, eyes glowing like storms chained to flesh. His presence alone made the ground quake. He wasn't interfering, but gods, he would if I fell.
But I would not fall.
Celine came at me again, this time faster, vicious, precise, a phantom made of death. Her jaws missed my throat by inches. I rolled under her, sank my teeth into her shoulder, and threw her into the altar.
