But it was fine, because I had Lucille next to me. And we would always have each other. I met him when he passed his first assessment in the Hellfire Group when he was seventeen. A room filled with other men twice his size and his age. He had ripped them apart with his hands and teeth, chewed on most of them like a wild dog. That was where the mad dog title came from.

Now, Zaahir walked the earth, and his molten lava-like eyes shone with bright, lethal anticipation. His skin, beautifully etched with swirling patterns of moving flames, glowed with an intensity that rivaled the sun, and his head was crowned with predatory horns made of thick, curling black smoke that mocked every living thing beneath him. The real players had finally arrived at the board. The fire spirits were loyal to him, and he wanted the pyromancer’s ring just as much as I did. I adjusted my posture as Aylin to look appropriately terrified for the agents of the Dark affair’s unit nearby, hiding my dark joy.

What are you truly here for?” Hunter’s expression turned grim yet remained strangely calm. “I can’t let you bring your crew back,” Cerberus replied, standing tall with his legs wide and his hands on his waist. “What’s stopping me? I have all the ingredients!” Hunter pointed back with a thumb, his confidence unshaken. “Do you?” Cerberus smirked. Hunter spun around quickly, realizing his captives were gone. Panic flashed across his face, and he rushed forward, but Cerberus attacked him from behind, initiating a brutal hand-to-hand combat.

If I blacked out now, Hermes might die. Another explosion shook the walls. Roman’s laughter broke through the ringing in my ears. “Didn’t she tell you?” His voice taunted. “I hate another man’s scent on what belongs to me.” Hermes’s eyes found me, in them rage and bloodlust. The heat in his glare burned me. Before I could scream at him to leave… His gun dropped. A guttural growl spilled from his throat. Bones cracked. Grey fur on taut muscle as he shifted. His canines gleamed, dripping for death.

The moniker endured. "I don't get it," "Cerberus was Hades' watchdog," he claims. He kept watch over the Underworld's entrances. It was about 10 minutes since the cab drove to the highway. Pearl anxiously stared outside and thought about getting to the hospital. She didn’t realize the cab driver was a werewolf, one of the Zetas in Taggart’s pack. “Could you drive me to a hospital, please?” Pearl asked after a while. The cab driver was slightly turning back and then nodded. He said nothing but just did her order. Pearl smiled and then sighed in relief. The night before, Taggart hid her phone, and Pearl read her brother’s message that their father was admitting into St. Elizabeth.

When they reached the cage, Elias’s heart clenched. Cerberus lay collapsed within a dome of blacksteel, all three heads lolling, tongues thick with dark foam, eyes wild and glassy. Chains wrapped his paws and necks, glowing with demonic sigils. But the moment Elias stepped forward, everything changed. The beast stirred. Slowly, one head lifted. Then the second. Then the third. All three heads groaned as if in unison—then bowed, muzzle to scorched earth. Lucian stared, jaw tight. “He bowed.”

Chloe does; Hecate.” “Hecate? What kind of name is that?” “It’s the name of a Greek goddess. As far as we can tell, only the Wolfe line has a wolven spirit with a Greek name. Even Sierra and Alvaro don’t have them. So, how come she has one?” Lucas raised an eyebrow, hazel eyes darkening as the questions piled up. “I think we need to make a call.”
