HER DAUGHTER'S REJECTED MATE
The door opened minutes later, and a figure stepped inside — hooded, thin, but standing with a defiance I hadn’t seen in a long time.
She pulled back her hood.
And I felt the floor tilt beneath me.
She was young, no more than twenty. Her eyes were steel-gray, her hair silver as moonlight, braided tight down her back. Scars marked the side of her throat, half-hidden by the collar of her tunic. She didn’t kneel. She didn’t even bow.
Helena’s voice cracked softly beside me. “She wouldn’t give her name, my lady.”
“I am Serin,” the girl said evenly, eyes locked on mine. “Last of the Silverblood wolves.”
