Roxy looked at me, her expression softening with sympathy. "Okay," she said, wrapping her arm around my shoulders. "Let's go."
The game was on at seven. I told my mom I had a headache and went to my room, closing the door and curling up on my bed. I told myself I wasn't going to watch. I was going to read a book, listen to music, anything to escape the constant, painful reminder of what I was missing. But at seven o'clock sharp, I found myself reaching for my phone, my fingers trembling as I pulled up the live stream of the game.
