The concussive force of the strike was catastrophic. A blinding shockwave of violet light and freezing static electricity exploded outward, throwing dozens of fully armored obsidian enforcers off their feet. The ground beneath them violently buckled, the stone splitting open into deep, smoking fissures that swallowed the fallen weapons and shattered shields. Alpha Silas’s massive obsidian beast let out a terrified, high-pitched shriek, its primitive instincts overriding its training as it turned and bolted blindly through its own ranks, trampling two captains into the dirt.

He lunged, his lightning-wrapped fist aiming for my chest. I threw up my hands, summoning a wall of fire. The flames roared, but his lightning cut through them like a knife through paper. His fist grazed my shoulder, and pain exploded down my arm. I stumbled back, gasping. “You can’t win,” Silas said, stepping closer. His lightning coiled around him like a snake, they were bright and deadly. “Shut up!” I shouted, throwing a bolt of my own lightning. It was thin, barely a spark compared to his, but that was enough to make him pause.

"Indigo Thunder Shield!" Sebastian chanted under his breath as he used all his strength. A purple flash of lightning appeared around Sebastian. There was a blast as the punch landed heavily on his body. It felt like a falling meteor as it clashed with the indigo lightning! A loud sound boomed in the area, like a mountain exploding, and Sebastian flew backward. The burly man felt equally uncomfortable. The indigo lightning had shocked him so much that his legs had gone numb. "How many other tricks do you have up your sleeve?"

High in the sky, a thunder struck and the rains began to pour suddenly and violently, as though someone was persuading the rain from a powerful shrine. Ezeugo laid on the bamboo bed, listening to the sound of the rain droplets hitting the ground peevishly. His eyes moved to an old table, where a palm oil lamp rested. A cold breeze blew and the light vanished. Everywhere was dim.

The white light died. Baraka placed two fingers against the battery housing of her collar. He summoned the localized kinetic static—the subtle, vibrating friction of the Star-Code. It was a surgical application of power, entirely different from the raw, explosive force he had used in the Dead Zone. He pushed the electromagnetic pulse into the metal. The circuitry hissed, a wisp of acrid black smoke curled into the air, and the collar clicked open, falling harmlessly to the ground. Baraka moved immediately to the unconscious, granite-skinned giant. He applied the same static shock to the third collar. It popped open with a metallic clack.

"Eat." I stayed still. "What do you want from me?" I rasped. She smiled, slow and dangerous. "You don’t get to ask questions. We do." "Why am I here?" Her smile didn’t waver, but her eyes flashed. She pulled out something like a baton. But wrong. Silver. Charged. She jabbed it toward me, and before I could move— SHOCK. Lightning surged through me, white-hot agony. I screamed, collapsing. My fingers twitched. My heart stuttered.

He kept giving me sideways glances like he wanted to say something but knew better. “You're gonna snap,” he finally said. “I can smell the storm building in you.” ~~~ The moment I stepped into the hallway, I regretted showing up.
