Most importantly, it was quiet here and near the hospital, so getting to work would be easy. "El, Junie, you two go shower first. It's Monday tomorrow, which means it's your first day at kindergarten. You should sleep early tonight." "Okay, Mommy. Will I make a lot and a lot of friends in kindergarten?" June asked. "Yes, Junie. You'll make lots of new friends." It was obvious that June liked it here more than she did in Yuvaran. She had always been more lively and loved making friends. She was curious about starting kindergarten and was looking forward to it.

"If this is a joke ... it's disgusting." I looked up, searching his gray-brown eyes for even the smallest hint that he was kidding. But all I saw was calm, like everything he said was normal. "Sorry, Lane." He didn't even pull his arm away from my waist. His fingers traced the skin that had just been shaking under him. "But don't worry. No matter what, you'll always be my first Luna. Your status, your honor—none of that will change." First Luna? I shoved his hand away, like I was shaking off a cold, venomous snake.

“Ms. Fun-wrecker.” “You can call me that again. Tomorrow begins the month of June. Huff and puff, honey, time to get too submissive.” Nora giggled. “Jeez, must you remind me of it?” June would be the worst month of her life, the fact she'd be too submissive was awful. “Come on, don't blow your stack. Just as Alfred left the picture, and his men wouldn't stalk and attack you —”

She believed Garvin and the assurance he gave her but as for June? June realized her mistake. She was allowing her emotions to control her again, just like almost six and a half years ago, when she saw Garvin for the first time. He did not see her though but she did and was smitten. “No Iris. I need your help.” June sat in front of Iris as soon as the words left her mouth. Iris was displeased. “June, how are you and where have you been?” She asked sarcastically, June realized that after meeting Garvin again after so many years, she kind of left her brains at home from the shock.

Because this version of June feels lighter already. Not like someone failing. Not like someone struggling. Just June.... or Phoenix

I reached for it absently, then froze. The date. June 28. “What the hell?” I rasped, my voice loud enough to still the birds in the trees. The Alphas turned to me sharply. “Why does this say June 28?” I asked again, standing, heart pounding. Alpha Benard frowned. “What do you mean, son? It is June 28.”
