A swift kick sent me crashing to the floor, the air rushing out of my lungs. Killian grinned as the crowd roared, screaming his nickname- the killer- from all sides. I struggled to my feet, and then he was coming for me once more, Instincts kicking in, I shifted right, avoiding the crushing fist aimed at my spleen. Back against the rope, I bombarded Killian with a hail of fast short jabs to his torso, trying to win some space and deliver a knee-strike. My knuckles burned as I managed to side-step and finish the combo with a powerful kick to the middle of Killian's chest, throwing the bigger man to the opposite rope, where he crashed and fell, and the roar of the crowd rose to a crescendo.

I looked at Keane, who was leaning up against the railing, his eyes still pinned on where she last stood. “Feel better?” I asked. “You wanted to catch her, and we did.” Keane said nothing for a long moment, but Teague spoke up. “I see your obsession with her, man.” He whistled between his teeth. “Those fucking legs go on for days.” “She’s a beauty,” I agreed, imagining running my hands through that dark, color-streaked brown hair. “A fighter, too. Why is she here?” “Dunno,” Keane said finally. “Since that last nurse bitch Malorie got fired, I haven’t been able to get into student files.”

He wore joggers and a hoodie, looking like he'd been running. "Killian? What are you doing here?" "I run through here every Saturday." His eyes moved to Zane. "Didn't expect to see you two together." "We're not together," Avelina said quickly. "He's just—we're just—" "Spending time with our son," Zane finished, standing up. He was taller than Killian by an inch. "What are you doing here, really?" "I told you. Running." Killian smiled, but it didn't reach his eyes. "Nice to see you playing dad, though. That's new."

I was no longer trapped in that room but now in an open field where all my enemies were formed in a line and I could do what i wanted to them. “What do you have?” I ask, already planning what I’m going to do to them. They would wish for death by the time I’m done with them. “The mercenaries that were hired. One of my guys was part of the team, but he pulled out when he realized you were the target.” Killian grew up in the streets before he was adopted by a rich family. So he knew every class of people and mostly the dirty ones. “Does he know the other people on the team?” I’d almost forgotten Claude was there until he spoke. “Or if he can recognize them.”

Intrigued, his gaze searched the room until it landed on a pair of shoes stopping beside him. It was the man who had been with King earlier—his right-hand man. “Pleasure to meet you. I’m Raze Alconde,” he said, offering a handshake. Kane accepted it with grace. “Pleasure to meet you, too.” “My boss seems to like your work a lot,” Raze remarked. “I’m an aspiring artist myself. Mind sharing your secret?” His smile was lopsided, his tone friendly. Kane sensed the subtle game at play and responded in kind.

My boots echoed across the floor, a sound that made the youngest of them take a step back. “You lost her, a pregnant woman with a child?” I repeated, tasting the fury like blood. “You had one task. Bring her back. And you’re standing here empty-handed.” Jonas bowed lower. “We tried, Alpha. We tracked her through the storm, but Liam… he…” The moment that name left his mouth, my vision went red. “Liam,” I said, softly, dangerously. “You saw him? And you allowed him to escape? With her?”

Killian was thrilled each time we added a new baby into the mix. Killian went to college for engineering. Henry went to the Air Force to be a pilot. Jacob went for architecture. And our littlest baby, Gus went to be a veterinarian. My heart couldn't be fuller, all the trials and tribulations we went through to get to this point in our lives have been more than worth it. I look around at our family gathered in the stands. Laura and chandler sit close together talking animatedly with Killian. We've really over come everything.

They pause and give each other looks. "So we just killed the leader of the obsidian mafia, and his only heir is right here." Says scary guy. "Not exactly... Nara who is his son?" "Killian ... He was adopted from Venezuela at ten years old. He's twenty right now." His son. My adopted cousin. The day I left our estate Killian was seeing it for the first time. We exchanged one glance, looking into each other's eyes. He watched our car drive away. We were two naive, young souls. Not aware of the horrid things I was separated from, or the horrid things he was just brought into.

Ricochet proceeded with the announcements, “we have Mad Dog, the President of the Hellhounds Motorcycle Club.” Raucous cheers erupted through the underground arena and charged the air. The bloodthirsty crowd all wanted to see some guts spilled, no matter whose they were. “And in the left corner, from the mountain range of Forest Hills, we have the son of Razor, and member of the Roughnecks Motorcycle Club, Kian Jones!” The name didn’t seem to fit the raging demon inside me. It felt as if Kian Jones was some guy I knew from another lifetime.
