I decide to start with trying to find what ingredients may have been used in the sedative Clay gave me. The first book I pull off the shelf isn't very helpful. It discusses the different myths about how lycans were created but doesn't talk about any possible weaknesses. Placing the book back on the shelf, I scan the titles next to it: 'Lycan Growth and Maturation', 'The Legend of the Lycan', and 'Lycan magic'. Magic? I've never heard of lycans being able to use magic. My interest peaked, and I pull the book off of the shelf and open to the first chapter. I skim through the text, but soon shut the book, deciding to focus on my first task.

I glanced at Gabriel and saw him reading his book with full attention, he had a calm expression on his face while he was reading the book. The library was always my sanctuary, a place where I could escape reality and lose myself in the pages of a good book. As I wandered through the aisles, I came across a book that caught my eye. It was titled "The Mystics of Lycans". Intrigued, I pulled it off the shelf and flipped through the pages. The words were unfamiliar, and I struggled to make sense of them. I flipped the book open and began to read the old, yellowing, crinkled and tattered pages of the book starting with the differences between lycans and werewolves. According to the book, lycans were ten times stronger than the average wolf and were able to outrun wolves without difficulty. Their senses were additionally heightened but no one can genuinely measure exactly how much more they are heightened.

Eventually, with my arms full, I found Nicholas still in the fantasy section. He was engrossed in a thick hardcover, his brow furrowed in concentration. “Find something good?” I asked, approaching him. “Possibly. But I think you might like this one.” He handed me a paperback with an image of a woman wielding a sword on the front. I read the title aloud. “‘The Lycan Chronicles.’ Hmm, never heard of it.” “It’s a fantasy series,” he explained, still flipping through his own book. “Great world-building, complex characters...” He glanced up and smirked. “Plus, it has some... steamy scenes.”

I was excited and couldn't help but feel happy to deliver the news to him. I have read the book, and it all revolves around what lycanthropes are. Lycanthropes are different species of werewolves who are stronger and faster than werewolves. It was said that a low-ranking lycanthrope who is trained can take on an Alpha. The highest rank of lycanthropes can take on six to seven werewolf alphas if trained by a lycanthrope mage. A lycanthrope mage is one who has the ability to control the four elements: fire, ice, earth, and air. A lycanthrope mage can take on as many alphas as he can, but the mage lycanthrope has a weakness that can be their demise.

Lycans were said to be direct descendants of the moon goddess, some had magical abilities such as healing or super strength and speed. The Fenris gene flowed through me, that is why unlike other Lycans I have super strength, speed and an insatiable taste for blood and violence..
