March. Eight months old. Evie was everywhere. Crawling. Fast. Into everything. We couldn't turn our backs for a second. "Where is she?" I asked Marcus one evening. "I thought you had her." "I was in the bathroom for thirty seconds!" We found her. Under the dining table. Eating the dog's water bowl. Well, trying to. Water everywhere. "Evie, no!" I said, pulling her out. She looked at me. Smiled.

Her mother made another apology and pulled away her excited daughter before little Evie prolonged the conversation. Mummers of affection soon filled the room at how Lucianne interacted with little Evie. Everyone was throwing warm smiles in hers and Xandar’s way. But Lucianne was blind to all of this because her attention was on Evie the whole time. When Evie was dragged away by her mother, Xandar stood up and held out a hand to his mate as he said, “Come, my love.”

In this house where everything unspeakable was allowed as long as it stayed unspoken. Vane’s pupils contracted to pinpricks. I saw the exact second the realization hit him—that I wasn’t guessing. That I knew. I leaned in until my split lip almost brushed his ear. “Does it hurt you to see him like this?” I murmured. “All marked up. Used. Does it make you want to kill me… or does it make you want to remind him who he really belongs to?” Elias whimpered again—soft, broken. He pressed himself harder against the headboard like he could disappear into the mahogany if he tried hard enough.

To identify someone, I didn't have to see their face. "Maxwell," I spat, the resentment building in my chest like a fire just waiting to be started. "What the whirl are you doing here?" Though their gaze stayed chilly and far-off, the person moved forward, a smile curving their lips. "Well, well, Levi," Maxwell said in a low, mocking voice. "Still striving to be the hero, I see. How exactly predictable? I hissed, pushing in front of Evie defensively, "Stay away from her."

He whispered, getting lost in those sea-green eyes. "For helping Alexander, I owe you one, now shall we all join the festival. I do not want to miss what's remaining of it, I've been casting lightning all day and I need me a good purple rose shower and maybe a good meal from a kind MerElve." Tide licked his lip in anticipation and Nexie frowned. "You say that like they are the only ones who make good food in all of Aquarial." "Not to argue but he's right, my mother is a MerElve and I tell you this, I never tasted a more delicious meal." Alexander agreed as they left the Tideian's home.

She said, pouting like a child. " No, Evie. Just go away. " " Please... For my sake? " Evie persisted. " Okay. " Mira helplessly opened her eyes and sat up on the bed. " Good morning, Bestie! " Evie greeted her happily. " Morning. " Mira rolled her eyes. Seeing this, Evie couldn't help raising an eyebrow... " Let me guess, Joseph didn't let you go to bed earlier? " She said with a mischievous smile.

"No!" "Ha! I scored higher!" Then the laughter from Richard she heard. "Evie's going on a date with me! You're going on a proper date with me!" "It's not a date! I will only spending my day with you!" Evie actually wants to cry. She can't believe that stupid point one! Why is there a point one there! Why can't it be just nineteen? Dang nineteen! As soon as she sees Brieanna, she runs to hug her little missy, crying like a kid.

I blew the flame out and received a nod from Ellie. And then, Evie appeared. As soon as she fully materialized, Elias growled at her. "Stop it," I scolded him. "That's right. Talk some sense into that dog of yours," Evern said. "You stop it, too. Don't provoke him. Geez, neither of you are acting like adults." I said. "Well, if the kettle isn't calling the pot black," she scoffed. Elias was still growling but it was low. Evie eyed him & rolled her eyes.

She was prepared to kill her mate if she had to. Eva focused on her other senses and tried to make out where Martin was. Once she focused she sensed when Martin jumped and was able to slightly dodge Martin’s attack. Eva suffered a large scratch to her arm but her injuries only fueled her anger more for this man. Eva quickly stood up and tried to listen to where Martin was. Successfully she was able to pinpoint his location and she jumped on the large wolf that was on the other side of the bed. Eva quickly bit into his neck and began to suck his blood.

Even though I didn't know what had gotten Leo so worked up. Someone coughed at the far end of the room and I turned around to see who it was. I lost the strength in my arms as I saw Evie on the floor. She was holding her head and trying to get up from the lying position she was in. I wasn't sure if she saw me yet but I was angry. I was very angry with her. How dare she be in cohort with someone that wanted to kill me? I dropped the man in my hand on the floor and saw that he already fainted. My eyes returned from golden to their usual black color. By then, Evie was back on her feet completely. The moment she saw me, she screeched and made for the door.
