The confrontation was immediate, stripped of social pretense. “I won’t let her go until she tells me she’s not being manipulated,” Jeffrey stated, his voice tight with controlled anger, finally laying his cards on the table.

And despite everything, my heart still wanted him. “Yes,” I said softly, but firmly. “I do.” Jefferson sighed, rubbing a hand over his jaw. “You’re making a mistake,” he muttered, but his voice lacked its previous edge. “But if this is truly what you want…” He looked at Jack. “Then prove it.” Jack straightened. “How?” Jefferson’s expression was unreadable. “Marry her. But no prenup.” The room fell silent. My breath caught. Jack’s eyes flickered with something unreadable.
