(Isabella POV) "Do you think she will be ok?" I heard Nancy say but I didn't look behind. My mind was filled with Nyx. Is he alright? Is he safe? Will I see him again? "What happened?" I heard a familiar voice. "Daniel!" I heard Nancy call surprised. "What happened to her?" he asked. "Killian is missing," she said as I try my best not to start crying. "What?! How?" Another unfamiliar voice boomed confusing me.

“Yes, that's true. It won't just be me, though. Carter and our other team members will be keeping an eye on it as well.” Nancy was dressed to impress. She had on a white blouse, with lace going down the arms. Her blonde hair was looped with giant curls and it fell elegantly on top of her shoulders. Everything about her looked expensive, from her makeup all the way to the gigantic diamond ring on her left hand. Her outfit alone was probably worth more than the total amount that I had in my savings account. “Henry and I are excited to work with y'all,” she said. “Carter has told us a lot about you. He makes it sound like you're the bees knees.”

Rexy said. “What? How could you be so careless about such a sensitive matter? Why didn't you tell me earlier?” “Of course, I've been trying to reach you all night but your phone was unreachable. I was only able to get through to you now”. “Okay, fine. Don't worry about it anymore, I will send you the rest of your balance. Just go away from Sun city and never show up before me ever again” Nancy threatened. Then, she immediately ended the call and heaved a sigh of relief.

“Nylah?” “Miss Nylah Steven. Callie’s younger sister. Lucas Hudson is her college classmate. Top grades, handsome, popular. Nylah developed an obsession. She confessed her feelings to him publicly. He refused—politely, from what witnesses said. She didn’t take rejection well.” I leaned back in the chair. The leather creaked under my weight. “So she plotted revenge,” I said slowly. “And used my name—my seal—to throw an innocent man in a cell. Because her pride was bruised.”

"You still think you can retake the SAT? Stop kidding yourself. Work for me. I'll give you 3,000 a month. That's better than the factory. "You should be grateful Mrs. Crayford doesn't mind your ugly face." The lock clicked. A heavyset woman stepped out of the dark, laughing low. "Ms. Collins said you might be difficult and told me to be patient. But I like it when they fight back. Makes it interesting." I backed up fast, breathing hard, until my back hit the wall. I yelled, "Don't touch me! This is assault. I'm calling the police!" Lydia Crayford laughed. "I bring Ms. Collins business, and she brings me someone to play with. Where's the problem?"

In the nightclub, after receiving Emma's call, Nancy found her phone also turned off and unable to be restarted. She attempted to reboot it, and called Emma back, but in vain. Planning to leave the nightclub, she collided with a man. "No manners, huh?" The ferocious man glared at her, and Nancy, wanting to leave quietly, restrained herself from speaking. "Apologies." As Nancy took a step, the man grabbed her hand. Nancy's face lost its initial patience, and the man, upon seeing her face, became more desirous.

Stunned, Bethany chanced a glance at Nancy and remained silent. An excited squeak escaped Nancy's lips. "A-Are you Linden Lane?" "Yeah, I am." "Oh my god!! I can't believe my eyes—my favorite celebrity is standing right before me! Mom, can you pinch me so I know this isn't a dream? Why didn't you tell me earlier?" Slightly frustrated, Bethany chided, "Nancy, stop it. Weren't you praising Mr. Barrett for his looks earlier?" "But Linden is on another level!" Nancy squealed. Staring at him with starstruck eyes, she asked, "Mr. Lane, can I take a photo with you?"

“You tell that toy-boy ass of yours to watch his step tonight. One wrong move and you’re leavin’ with a face that matches your car’s matte finish.” He chuckled as Evelyn dragged him inside. “Feisty. I like it.” Before I could chase him down and rearrange that pretty face, the Bentley finally rolled up. Henry Callahan stepped out first, his golden hair slicked back with what looked like an entire tub of gel, in a suit two sizes too tight around the middle. Beside him was his mistress Monica, her arm curled through his, and one hand rubbing her baby bump. His mother, Vivian, followed, and Lydia waddled behind, already live-streaming.

Amanda Callahan was a forty year-old retired police officer. I had been reluctant about meeting her due to her reputation for violence. But while she was known to be as bitter as gourd, people also said that she was as smart as a whip and the fastest in Colorado.
