“Oh, I know,” Nathaniel says, leaning back against the headboard, voice dropping into that silken drawl that has talked boardrooms into ruin. “That’s what makes it fun.”
The woman at the mini bar glances over, sensing the change in his tone.
He gives her a look that says stay quiet, and she obeys, sipping her wine in silence.
“Let me guess,” Nathaniel continues, almost conversational. “Reid Caddel hasn’t given you the grand speech yet? The one where he pretends loyalty still means something in a company full of rats? The ones you're about to join, the irony.”
