Then everything went black as I was shrouded in the shadows of goodbye to all that I had ever known. After what must have been hours later, I awoke in an unfamiliar place. Fog surrounds me as hooded figures chant in a strange language. I try to move but I can't because my arms and legs are tied to a boulder with weird cravings in it. I try to scream but my voice comes out as a mere whisper. Shadows dance on the walls of this desolate cave before the ground begins to shake. The hooded figures fall to their knees and keep their eyes on the trembling ground.

Her eyes, she could feel them changing, emitting a pale blue light. “Get back!” the female temple member shouted, her voice now full of alarm. But it was too late. Siron’s hands, or the hands Morat now controlled, rose. The movement was graceful and authoritative. From every finger, bursts of pitch-black darkness, living shadows, leaped out. These shadows struck the cage of light, and instead of being repelled, they consumed it. The silvery light shattered like glass. The two male temple members were thrown backward, screaming as the shadows touched their skin, leaving marks like cold burns.

Alex noticed then there seemed to be a kind of halo all around David’s body, like he was giving off a faint bioluminescent glow.
