Slowly, Rafael pushed himself upright against the couch before his gaze shifted toward the chair near the fireplace and he froze at the sight. Nora was asleep there. She was curled slightly beneath one of the blankets sometime during the night, her head rested against the side of the chair while soft morning light illuminated her face. Her hair had partially fallen loose around her shoulders and despite how uncomfortable the position looked, exhaustion had clearly dragged her fully asleep.

Zanvil woke up because his phone continued ringing. He groaned when he felt his head spinning. He knew it was because of a hangover. He shouldn't have drank so much but it was because of his best friend Nathan. He was drinking his sorrows away with him and now it's time to repay with a bloody hangover. When he turned around he almost jumped out of the bed. Nora was sleeping peacefully beside him and to his utter horror she was naked. The blanket barely covering her chest. She was looking so beautiful like an angel. When he looked at himself he found himself naked too.

The city slept under a sheet of cold rain, and Viremont’s neon lights looked like dying stars bleeding into puddles. Nora stood by the cracked window of Kael’s apartment, watching the droplets race each other down the glass. Her reflection looked hollow — dark eyes, tired mouth, the faint line of a scar just below her jaw. The mark of survival. The mark of everything she’d lost and everything she wasn’t sure she wanted to keep. Behind her, the clock ticked quietly. Kael was asleep on the couch, one arm thrown over his face, gun still within reach. His chest rose and fell in the rhythm of exhaustion, but Nora could tell his sleep was shallow. None of them truly rested anymore.

CHAPTER SIXTY- SEVEN ~NARRATOR~ Nora tossed and turned in bed, unable to find a comfortable position. Her mind kept replaying the events of the day over and over again. She wondered what was waiting for her at the address she had been given. Was it a dead end, or was it something more? She couldn't shake the feeling that she was on the verge of discovering something big. But as the hours ticked by, sleep still eluded her. Her thoughts kept racing, and her eyes remained wide open. She tried counting sheep, drinking some warm milk, and even reading a book, but nothing seemed to help.

"What can I get for you tonight?" "Beer for me," I said, settling in. It felt nice to get out and away from the Compound for a bit. I could relate to what Kalyssa was feeling. I guessed that drugging her and holding her captive wasn't the best way to go. "Same," River and Cruz said in unison. "So, what're you all up to tonight?" Robert asked. It was late, after all, and usually people didn't come out this late. I shrugged. "Meeting Elias. He's getting off work in a bit."

She had seen her brother, Ryan, stay up late when he was working hard on his projects, and he would also fall asleep as soon as his head touched the pillow when he came home, especially when he had just taken over Pierce Group, which was a mess at the time. Nora was conflicted now that he had fallen asleep. ‘It’s already dark now, and he’s so tired, so he’ll probably sleep until very late at night, or even until tomorrow morning. Should I let him stay overnight at my place, then? ‘But we would be all alone, and he’s so shameless, so it’s very dangerous for me to let him stay the night. What else can I do? ‘He’s so tired. Bianca drove them to the party, which was raging on with a few people already passed out on the front lawn. So much for being fashionably late, Bianca thought to herself as they made their way to the party. Passing the drunk people puking out in the yard. As usual, Anna wandered off to look for Adrian, leaving Bianca alone. Bianca would just find a corner where she would just sip her drink while occasionally scrolling through her phone to pass time. She would also try to find Anna, from time to time, and make sure she was fine. It was almost midnight, people were starting to leave and Bianca wanted to go home too. She had fallen asleep almost immediately and I didn’t want to wake her up, so I pulled her into my arms and just snuggled. God how am I supposed to last a week here, I’ll be physically burned out. I eventually put my head to the pillow and drift off into a deep and well needed sleep. Not long after I’d fallen asleep, Nora enters the room with a bowl of porridge and a hot cup of coffee. “Morning! Hope you slept well, eat up and drink your coffee then I can get started on showing how to do things in a bit more detail around here” she says with a smile and a perk to her step, I wish I could say the same, I could feel the bags forming under my eyes.
