AUTHOR’S POV The night lamp turned on, and the room was no longer dark. Nora glanced at Leo, his chest rising and falling in the rhythm of deep sleep. Her hand hovered, then waved across his face—nothing. He was out cold. She slipped from the bed, the cool night air wrapping around her skin like a blanket. Author's POV The night was cool and peaceful, and the only sounds being heard was from nature and the busy roads of Los Angeles. Nora was in the room she had woken up in. She was sitting on the bed and looking up to the ceiling since she couldn't sleep a wink.

Waking up, I realize the reason. I hear the phone ringing on the other side of the room and slip out from under the covers to answer it. Immediately wishing that I hadn't gone to sleep without putting on a nightgown, I shiver while grabbing the phone. Retrieving it, I retreat to the warmth of the covers and look at who called.
