Then I stepped through the door and into the night. Avoiding the guards was child’s play. The shadows were my friends. They knew me. When I finally reached the sharp, fresh air outside, I found myself in the eastern courtyard, where the dragons rested beneath the pale silver moonlight. Noctis was not asleep. As I approached through the grass, the enormous midnight-black beast lifted his head. His golden eyes glowed in the darkness like twin burning comets. He did not growl. He did not make a sound. He only watched me.

“Ahhh, fine! Fine! Whatever. If you don’t want to tell me who he is, just say so~” Nexus laughed, softer now, like wind chimes in the desert dusk. But then, he leaned in again, as though sharing the punchline of the universe. “He’s a powerful wolf spirit who will call himself Theo a few years from now.” All of a sudden, the world around her trembled—like an old filmstrip glitching between frames. Nexus’s warm, serene smile began to fade, like sunlight sinking into water. The shrine, the sky, the sand beneath her—all of it peeled away, pixel by pixel, memory by memory.

His silence confirms it.

Lucas said slowly. "Hurry!" Forrest roared. "Hurry and bring senior back to get some rest." Then, there were men bringing Lucas to a room almost immediately. Their eyes turned pitch black, and claws began tearing through their hands like those of the Umbreal. Chaos erupted. Alpha Blackthorn immediately sprang into action, protecting anyone he could but this disaster felt planned. “How could Umbreal enter the city of Luris?! There must be a traitor!” Alpha Blackthorn roared as he shifted into a massive jet-black wolf. He stood bravely in front of Lucien, who had yet to gain his full power since the full moon had not risen. From within the swirling black smoke, a familiar figure emerged. Gargan Noctyrr Noar.

Pale, pearly light blossomed against her throat, bright enough that wolves in the cheap seats saw the glow even without zoomed cameras. The hum in the air shifted, a second resonance thread weaving into the silver one Elowen was trying to choke down. Around the hall, heads turned to Calista. Some eyes, drawn to visible light instead of felt pressure, tilted toward her. Wolves who didn’t understand Lunaris at all read bond instead—Luna resonance. House Nightmoor, coded neatly into the tasteful gleam. “Do you *feel* that?” a Luna in the fourth row whispered. “Her, and… something else.”
