I think I’d do ya too.” Her words weren’t wrong… I smiled at her until I heard my phone ring. I sighed, looking down at the phone. More work. I pulled it up, seeing it was my manager. I put it to my ear, “Hello? Oliver, what’s up?”

He shifted and took off running out the back door into the forest. Riley looked over at Ollie. She shifted back and ran over to him. "Ollie, you need to get up. Push through the pain. Their here to save us." "I'm sorry, Riley. I didn't mean for it to go this far." Ollie started to sob, but he got up. He grabbed a blanket from the couch and placed it over Rileys shoulders to cover her naked body. She wrapped it tightly around her as her and Ollie headed out the front door.

I mutter under my breath. I walk out and head to the neighboring shop, but still no sign of her. Suddenly I stop: something strange, invisible, urges me to look outside. I shield my eyes from the burning late-morning sun and spot an ochre blouse in the alley. I move forward on tiptoe.
