Let’s get back to the mansion, I’m famished.” I accidentally said ‘famished’ while looking at the doctor. He looked scared and he gulped as it could be seen that his Adam’s apple was moving.

The fog itself seemed to shiver, pulling tighter, until the figures were so near Mia could see the glint of eyes—silver, countless, unblinking. The pendant pulsed again. Slow, rhythmic. A heartbeat that wasn’t hers. “They’re here,” Mia whispered. Her voice broke like glass. “The ones who rewrote it.” The eyes blinked all at once. Then a ripple of sound, like parchment tearing, cracked the air. The mist split open, revealing not the clearing, but a throne towering in the distance, veiled in shadows. Know that I will always keep my oaths to you, and you will be bound to keep yours to me.” She stands on the stage as first Demetrius and then one by one the rest of our clan come to swear their loyalty and fealty to my Queen and then drink her blood. Mehira and Jael also come forward, swearing their loyalty to my mate. I stand close to her, snarling when it looks like someone is going to take more than a sip of her blood. She says with a small giggle. "You will stop second guessing your abilities to lead and you will rule right beside your mate. That is an order." She jokes with a hint of seriousness. I nod and smile up at her. She holds her hand out and a golden staff apears. I immediately bow down and she dubs me Queen of werewolves by tapping the staff on both of my shoulders. "I now dub thee Mackenzie Roseline Lathen as Queen of werewolves and Luna of the royal pack. Do you accept?" She asks and I look up at her.

Vincent bursts out laughing as he sees him fall and rise again, while Tasha stands at the doorway and rolls her eyes. She starts pointing to the kitchen and says, "There's a spider." Mum appears from behind her, smiling sheepishly at us, as Dad rolls his eyes and rises to move towards them. "So, what are your thoughts?" Warren asks from beside me, unfazed about the present situation. "I think it's good," I shrug. Warren looks out the window and nods. "And, what are your thoughts?" I ask, moving closer to him. He sighs, "Sure, I think it is sufficient. But do you think it's a good idea to just invite a random Mafia into ours?"

Catherine said, voice low. Maya froze. “What catch?” Catherine nodded toward the back of the cave. Maya squinted and saw them—thousands of tiny purple eggs pulsing in the shadows. Like living hearts. “The power in you keeps the Hive asleep,” Catherine said. “Take the Reset, you’re human again. But the Queen dies. And when she dies, her children wake up. They’ll be hungry. No one left to stop them.” Maya felt crushed, like the whole world wanted something from her. She stared at the gold bottle in her hand. It looked beautiful—almost perfect—but she knew it was just another lie, shining in the dark.
