“Never.” “Not dumb. Reckless.” “Reckless is fun,” I replied automatically. “Reckless gets people hurt,” he answered, his voice lower now. I waved my hand like his words were nothing but smoke. “Please. You sound like my father. Or worse, like some conscience I never asked for.” “Maybe you should’ve asked for one,” he muttered. I shrugged and went to my bag to open it as I got out a paper box. I clicked it open.

“Honestly, if they fire me, it might be my fault.” I blinked. “What did you do?” “Nothing. That’s the problem. I’ve stopped caring.” “That’s dangerous.” “I know. I’m this close to replying ‘per my last email’ to everything.” I groaned. “Don’t start wars in there.” “You’d hire me.” “In a heartbeat.” “See? Options.” She tapped the door. “I’m fearless now.” “You’re reckless.” “Same thing.” “It is not.” She grinned. “Okay, fine. Slightly reckless.”
