The night air clung to Luna’s skin like oil as she and Kael approached the kill site. Blood stained the earth in wide arcs, and the stench of death was thick, curling in her nostrils and stirring the wolf inside her. The body lay broken between two trees—ribs crushed, throat ripped, chest carved like meat for display. Kael crouched beside it, his golden eyes scanning the damage. He didn’t speak. Didn’t blink. His face was stone.

“I’m dying.” “What the fuck?” The tone in Minus’s voice immediately shifted from anger to concern. I gasped, my hand reflexively covering my mouth. “I have CRC.” “What the hell is that?” Minus asked with a slight drawl. I don't want to be accused of being rude. Mrs. Lorenzo observes the bottle and then she turns to her husband and nods. I guess it's the real stuff. POV Ruby "I can do this. I can do this. I HAVE to do this." I mumbled to myself as I wobbled out of my room. It was late or early, depending on your point of view. I had managed to send them all home a few minutes ago. Mom, Slivia and Cassy all wanted to spend the night but I had argued and Varg drove them home with promises that they would be back in a few hours. I knew that I had to be quick but I needed to see it. To be sure.
