"Oh." I turned. My heart skipped a beat unexpectedly. Rowan was riding toward us on a large black horse. The sight was unfairly attractive. His dark hair moved with the wind and he looked completely at ease in the saddle. The horse obeyed every movement without hesitation. When Rowan reached us, he looked between Daniel and me. "Having fun?" I smiled. "Actually, yes." Something flickered in his eyes. "I'm glad." Daniel cleared his throat. "We were just practicing."

Cian asked, his silver eyes wide with excitement. "I saw it, Little Wolf," Killian said, ruffling the boy’s dark hair. "But don't go showing off too much. You’ll give your Uncle Rowan a heart attack, and he’s too old for that." Rowan laughed as he dismounted, stepping forward to pull me into a bone-crushing hug. "I heard that, Killian! I might be old, but I can still outrun a Blackwood any day of the week." "In your dreams, Blueclaw," Killian shot back, though he was grinning as he shook Rowan’s hand.

“You’re standing in front of my classroom.” My stomach dropped. Room 204. English Literature. I looked past him at the door. And the plaque next to it. Professor Chance Black. I turned back to him, mouth dry. No fucking way. He was my fucking English professor.

When she met his eyes he smiled at her, admiring her new attire as well. “Are we filling the halls with just about any scoundrel on the street now?” Windsor’s words traveled through the room, and Grace, much like everyone else, ignored him. She walked side by side with Kara, and Philip pulled the chair out for her. Grace took her seat and gave him an uncomfortable smile as they all started to take their place. Rowan walked in dressed in a flashy black uniform with a red-and purple emblem on the center of his pocket. He took a seat across from Kara, and Grace realized that she was seated right next to Philip. For a moment, there was complete silence, until Phillip cleared the air.

I turn toward it. Rowan stands beside us, wearing a black formal shirt with the top buttons undone and a fitted matching blazer. His dark hair is styled neatly and his brown eyes are sharper than usual, warm and intense at the same time. He looks dangerously good and it is unfair how much my body reacts to seeing him. Gonalz explains, “We cannot reach Alpha Bronze.” I swallow and add in a low voice, “I cannot either.” Rowan lifts a brow. “Did he have some pack emergency last night?”

Momo muttered, blood oozing from his mouth. I gazed at Billy and Kate, who slowly crawled out of the layers of blocks. Their eyes were all white, pleading for a way out of their calamity. “Everyone get behind me.” Pastor Timothy commanded. They scrambled, hoping to get themselves next to the high and mighty Pope Timothy. Kate got herself out of the block, her bones making crackling sounds as she lay on the floor. They stepped back, wondering how a child had managed to crawl all the way out despite the layers of concrete weighing them down.

He explains in an apologetic tone and I nod my head, accepting the apology not wanting to pull the matter on further. I'm about to appreciate his understanding when the sound of the door opening tears through the room. Rowan walks in with a hard expression, ignoring the greetings around the board and settling on the head chair. His eyes find mine immediately as he sees that I'm sitting next to Shaw and that our chairs are next to each other. Heaven knows why that information somehow manages to piss him off as he narrows his eyes at me; openly glaring.
