The air thickened, pressing against my skin, filled with the unnatural presence of the creatures Raven had brought into our ranks.
As I entered the chamber, dozens of glowing red eyes flickered open in the darkness. The creatures shifted, their elongated limbs moving with eerie grace, their twisted forms half-wolf, half-something else.
They weren’t like us. They weren’t bound by instinct or honor.
They were hunger.
They were death.
