Chapter Four “This is Elaine, Alpha Jacob’s daughter.” He said with a warm smile. I stayed silent but deep down my heart was erupting the flames of sadness. “I am Freya, Alexander’s wife.” She said with a warm smile stretching out her hand for a handshake. I didn’t need the goddess help to know that she was sounding the alarm that he belongs to her. I forced a smile but I had no time to accept the handshake, her hands were suspended in the air. This may seem so rude, but at this point I didn’t care.

Silver Wolf indeed! He would eat this empty beer can if she turned into a Silver Wolf, he thought, eyeing the can in his hand. Since his back was turned to the door, he didn’t see her coming out at all. When he turned, she had already broken into a gallop and was in the process of leaping at his throat. It was the shock at seeing the Silver Wolf that had him rooted to the spot, petrified and unable to react, he told himself later. It was the shock that had made him drop the can and screw his eyes shut as he felt her paws on his shoulder.

Not silver. Crimson. And they were smiling.

The soft sway of leaves in the breeze. Then there is the tiniest bit of movement. A flash of gold. My heart slams violently against my ribs. At the very edge of the ceremony, just beyond the ring of watching wolves, a rabbit sits perfectly still. Golden. Its fur gleams unnaturally in the moonlight, as if lit from within. Its dark eyes are fixed on me; unblinking, intelligent, aching with something I can’t name. My breath stutters. “Aria?” Riven squeezes my hand gently, concern flickering across his face. “Are you alright?”

"Wolfsbane doesn't kill. What do you mean they are supposed to be dead?" Dr. Riley sighed. “True, wolfsbane doesn't kill, but silver does—at least when left for a longer period in the bloodstream." I took the other tube from his hand and surveyed it. "But there isn't any silver here. How would they have gotten silver?" I questioned. “There is, in that one, if you look closely," he gestured for the tube in Harry's grip, the one that contained the wolfsbane we had seen earlier. Harry raised the tubes against the sun while he squinted. "I do see something in it, but barely."

Like a river instead of a flash flood. Silver light burst across my skin. Brighter than during training. More intense. I opened my eyes and saw that the entire clearing was bathed in a silver glow radiating from me. Kade stared at me with an expression I couldn’t read. “Beautiful,” he whispered. Then he caught himself. “The power. It’s beautiful.” But he wasn’t looking at the power. He was looking at me. My wolf stirred. “How long can you hold it?” Kade asked.

“I’m not suppressing anything.” Liya suddenly stirred uneasily. “She sees us.” Fear rose higher inside me instantly. Bella looked genuinely surprised now. “You really don’t know.” My breathing became uneven. “Know what?” Bella glanced around the empty balcony carefully before speaking again. “Silver aura is ancient.” The words hit like stones inside my chest. “It doesn’t appear naturally in normal wolves.” The rogue’s voice echoed again inside my mind. “You were never weak.” Bella’s eyes locked onto mine. “Who taught you to hide it?”

He could see the red eyes of Dan's werewolf shimmering and he knew that he was only seconds away from a fate worse than death. He quickly thought of a plan. He had remembered that his brother had a high weakness to silver and he knew that he had gotten a silver ring in his pocket. He quickly removed the ring and used the edge of his cloth as he held it up to his brother's face. He spoke in a soothing voice. "Dan, I know you are angry, but please remember that I am still your brother. I am your family. Please, I beg of you, spare me and let me go. I will never bother you or your family again, I swear." As tears flowed through his deep blue eyes, he folded his fingers and pulled his hand down. His messy hair was shining in the moonlight. Silver was rather short for a 15-year-old boy, 4 ft. 3 inches. He also had a distinct but small scar just above his left eyebrow. He was wearing a black T-shirt with a bird symbol on the back and grey pants. A black bracelet with a single glass-like white stone encircled his left wrist. His name was Silver, just like his hair.
