Then what? Before anyone could speak again... Rowan suddenly cried out. Not like before. This scream echoed through the entire room. His tiny body arched backward. The mark on his back glowed faintly beneath his skin. Silver. The same silver light Kiara's powers produced. Everyone froze….Even the witch doctor. "What is happening?" Kiara cried. I reached for Rowan— Then stopped. Because his tiny eyes...Opened. For just one second. And instead of the bright blue eyes he'd been born with...They glowed pure silver.

Nate gave me a reassuring smile before following to ensure proper procedures were followed. I sat on the wooden swing outside my door, watching snowflakes melt on my fingertips. My communication crystal vibrated. A message from an unknown sender appeared: "Think you've won, Isabelle? I'm carrying Karl's pup. Your victory is temporary." I laughed bitterly and deactivated the crystal. Natalie was both foolish and pitiful, sacrificing everything for a wolf with no loyalty. I removed the small red box from my pocket that Karl had left. She remembered the night she was born, the sky illuminated by a moon that had turned completely silver, casting the forest in an ethereal glow. Her parents, exhausted and elated, had held her close, their faces pale with awe. Even in her infancy, Silver had felt that the moon’s glow had left something inside her—something that pulsed quietly, waiting for the right moment to awaken.

“It’s a woman.” “What is she doing over there? Her hair is painted silver. Is she also a LARPer?” With Arthur at the forefront, he led his men through loosely growing thickets and round sediments until he came within range where he could view Silvia’s form better. “Hey…” Arthur was about to call out to Silvia to inquire about her reason for being there all alone.

For a little while, it was just us and the forest. When Alexa finally slowed down, I noticed a lake ahead, its water so clear it looked like glass. “Wow, look at that,” I said through the mindlink, my voice soft with awe. Alexa padded closer, her paws silent on the soft earth, until we reached the edge of the lake. I caught her reflection in the water, and my breath hitched. She was a silver wolf, her fur shimmering like moonlight, with patches of white woven through it. “You’re beautiful,” I whispered, stunned. Silver and white wolves were rare—almost unheard of. I’d never seen one in person, and now here I was, staring at my own wolf. “We’re rare, Alexa. Did you know that?”

He breathes next to my ear. I can smell the hot metal from here. The next minute I feel it searing pain on my skin by my lower back. I wail from the pain and my breath is gone. I see white. He then throws silver powder on my wound to prevent it from closing and healing. I scream louder it burns like hell, he just laughs at me. If it ever heals there will be a scar. I throw up from the pain and my tears are flowing down my face.
