A Joke That Went Too Far

A Joke That Went Too Far

"You have no idea–I was just joking around, but those disgusting guys went crazy asking me for your contact." The old me would have already been crying, asking her how she could do this to me, voice breaking. Not this me. My teeth clenched so hard they hurt. My whole body trembled with anger. I snatched the flyer out of her hand and slapped her across the face. Tara screamed, clutching her cheek in disbelief. "You hit me? I treat you like my best friend, and you can't even take a joke anymore?" Best friend? I let out a cold laugh.

FIFTY MILLION DOLLAR OMEGA

FIFTY MILLION DOLLAR OMEGA

The room went silent. Then Sylvia lost it and a sharp, loud growl of laughter escaped her, then another, until she was shaking so violently that she could barely stand, clutching her stomach, and tears streaming down her face. "You... you puked on your rebellion?" she managed to say. "Oh, that's perfect. That's so perfectly you! Not a seductive mistake, a biological one!" she squeaked out, still laughing uncontrollably. I simply let her cackle until she ran out of breath because fighting Sylvia's laughter was a losing battle. It's never going to work.

Mated to the Rogue Alpha

Mated to the Rogue Alpha

Sierra laughed on the other side for what seemed to be a long time. I whispered into my phone, whining. “It's not funny.” "But it is unique." She said, her laugh easing into nothing. “So, in layman's terms, you had a wet dream. Between you and my… ugh, okay. It's not so funny anymore." She said, sounding mildly disgusted. I couldn't help but chuckle at her realized misery. Turnabout was fair play after all. After much sputtering on the other side, she fell silent.

"I plan to beat Chief this time." "Oh, come on, you can't beat Grandpa!" Silvia raised her thin brows. "That man is the most lazy Servantes living up to this day." "Ah…" Jana shook her head in pity. "Then it must be because you don't know me too well." Gio was surprised to see Queenie casually cracking jokes with Silvia. Now that he looked back on it, he should have invited Silvia that day. Jana eyed the double door ahead of them. She tried to level her uneven breath. In and out.

The Barren Luna’s Revenge; Dear Ex, Your Only Heir Is Mine

The Barren Luna’s Revenge; Dear Ex, Your Only Heir Is Mine

I bent over, laughter and tears spilling out of my eyes. Oh moon goddess, forgive me for laughing so much. What an Alpha! Silas was just fit to become a stand up comedian, he got the jokes to make it big on the internet. “You came here…” I said slowly, catching my breath in the process, “...to offer me my own company?” Silas's face looked as normal as can be, he nodded, clearly not understanding the absurdness in the situation. “What's wrong with that? You are a woman, no matter how smart you think you are, do you think you should take control of a corporation?”

Fictitious Reality

Fictitious Reality

She moved away from her embrace and said, “I am sorry Myra. I just got a bit carried away…..ummmm……sorry for ruining your shirt.” “If I was a man I would have said ‘It is my honor lady.’” Myra said in an attempt to make the environment lighter. Unfortunately, this joke reminded Sia of Sam and she felt pain shoot in her chest. Realizing that Sia seemed more distressed by the joke Myra kept quiet and led her to the couch. She made her sit on the couch and said, “I will make some coffee for you.” Then, she went to the kitchen leaving Sia alone who was lost in thoughts.

The Cursed Beauty and his Beast

The Cursed Beauty and his Beast

“Where’s everyone? Why are you here? Don’t tell me—“ She paused from talking. Not because Mariana made her stop from speaking. But instead the idea that coming out of her mind is too absurd to even say in words. Silvia chuckled. “Absolutely not. No. right? Right, Mariana?” Angie rolled her eyes. Irritated at how pathetic Silvia is. She’s aware that Silvia has this unconventional imagination even way before she first met her. There’s a hint of cleverness in every out of this word idea that she has. No wonder she’s considered as the head of the group and one of the reasons why she liked to be part of her circle. However this smart-ass often chooses to disregard the fact of lying flat in front

The Billionaire's Twins Play Matchmaker

“I don’t know anything about business.” “That’s what classes are for,” Silas shrugged. “I didn’t come out of the womb ready to run a multi-billion dollar company.” Ava snickered trying to contain a laugh. Her face flushed with embarrassment but Silas reached for her hand and kissed it. He wouldn’t have been able to wipe the smile from his face if he tried. Not only had she genuinely smiled and even laughed she did so in response to one of his lame attempts at a joke.

so far I'm enjoying this book very much. it has caught my attention. I'm hoping it will keep my attention. I've found that a lot of these ongoing books stop keeping my attention after while because they don't keep the story moving along they keep it like a daily journal and loose people's attention

On Your Knees, Mr. Ex Husband

On Your Knees, Mr. Ex Husband

She looked like a maniac, laughing her lungs out, with tears in mascara running down her cheeks, and her hair disheveled. Joyce frowned but had to maintain the victim act, so she coughed and asked in a weak voice, “Dahlia, we are all so worried about you. Should we call a doctor?” Silas's expression darkened as he watched her and also asked, "What is so funny?" Dahlia wiped at the tears running down her face and shook her head. "No, because this is actually insane. Do you hear yourself?" Silas clenched his jaw, irritated. "I am trying to explain—"

One Joke Too Many

One Joke Too Many

The room went dead quiet when I said I would take the prize, but that quiet did not last. A second later, laughter thundered through the air. Lily Smith was the loudest, doubling over with tears streaming from her eyes. "How else could she be the top seller?" she cackled. "A woman like her has to have skin as thick as a rhino." I ignored her snide comments and kept my cool. "Just to be clear," I said, "since the company so generously 'rewarded' me with bathroom duty, that's all I'll be doing for the next three days. Everything else is off my plate."
