I said. In my past life, I'd witnessed too many occasions of humans turning out to be more savage than zombies when they wanted to eat. They would do everything they could to get a mouthful of food. After the zombie outbreak, morals and laws meant nothing. Survivors would do anything to stay alive. The bad memories made me tremble uncontrollably, but a warm hand on my cheek pulled me back to my senses. Mom said gently, "Things must've been hard for you, sweetheart."

The survivor laughed softly. "No." The cracks widened. The creator's pressure slammed against the white space. Reality shook. The survivor didn't move. Didn't flinch. Didn't even seem concerned. Which somehow felt terrifying. "You are interfering again." The creator's voice echoed from everywhere. The survivor looked upward lazily. "She's not your experiment." Silence. The words hit hard. Experiment. Again. The creator didn't deny it. Because it couldn't. The survivor's expression darkened. "I watched seventy-three worlds die."

HELENA Pain surged through my body as I tried to sit up and get myself off the ground. The pain was sharp and sudden. Chasing away the last traces of weakness I had. Along with it, the hope of survival. In my condition, it didn’t matter what I did. I couldn’t fight my way through what was coming. I gritted my teeth and tried pushing myself off the ground again.
