THE SUBSTITUTE MATE FOR THE ALPHA KING

THE SUBSTITUTE MATE FOR THE ALPHA KING

The silence in the Labyrinth was a living thing, a thick, muffling blanket that pressed against my eardrums. I stood at the nexus of the two infinite corridors, the smooth, grey stone offering no hint, no crack, no variation. Solve the corridor. What did that even mean? Blow it up? I’d tried. Reason with it? There was no one to reason with.

EMBRACING THE FORSAKEN LUNA

EMBRACING THE FORSAKEN LUNA

Without another word, we pushed forward, entering the dark, twisting corridors of the Labyrinth. The air was thick with dust and the scent of old magic, the walls covered in strange runes that glowed faintly in the dim light. “Stay close,” I whispered, my voice barely audible over the echoing footsteps. “And keep your wits about you. This place is full of traps.” As if on cue, a low rumble reverberated through the corridor, and a section of the floor dropped away just ahead of us, revealing a pit filled with razor-sharp spikes.

Emma and the moonrise legacy

Emma and the moonrise legacy

Shadows danced along the walls, concealing hidden obstacles and deep pitfalls. "You must trust your instincts and the connection to the moon within you," High Elder Selene advised. "Let its light guide your path Emma." Taking a deep breath, Emma stepped into the labyrinth. The air was thick with an otherworldly stillness, broken only by the sound of her own footsteps. The darkness seemed to press hard against her, testing her resolve. As she ventured deeper into the labyrinth, her senses heightened. She listened intently, relying on her keen hearing to detect the subtle shifts in the environment. With each twist and turn, she fe

The Alpha's Beta: Once Rejected, Now Desired

The Alpha's Beta: Once Rejected, Now Desired

I didn’t want to do the same to my friends. We continued down the labyrinth in silence for a moment, the only sound around us the echo of our boots and an occasional tap of water drops in the distance. After a while, Ragnar broke the silence. “Do we have an exact map of going through the labyrinth? Or are we just wandering aimlessly, looking for clues.” Lloyd froze in his tracks and we all mirrored his movement. Slowly, he turned. “The labyrinth is divided into two ways from here.” He looked from one face to the other, stopping at mine. “The left wing leads to the wood boundaries of the pack. The

Between Breathe And Goodbye

Between Breathe And Goodbye

Taking shape. "Something's coming," he said. Eliana followed his gaze. The blackness was thickening, forming walls, floor, ceiling. But this wasn't the collapsing house from before. The architecture here was wrong—twisted corridors that bent upward like staircases spiraling into nowhere, doors embedded in ceilings, windows looking out onto more windows. And everywhere, mirrors. Dozens of them. Hundreds. Reflecting nothing. "This is new," the boy whispered. Her guide's jaw tightened. "The Labyrinth of Selves. The second trial."

Aetherion Academia #1: Shadows of Rebirth

Aetherion Academia #1: Shadows of Rebirth

Moments later, [Rina P.O.V] The labyrinth breathed. I stepped through the archway and felt it immediately - the particular consciousness of a space that was not merely constructed but cultivated, grown from the shadows of a thousand students who had entered before me and left pieces of themselves behind. The walls were obsidian, smooth, reflecting nothing, swallowing light like a mouth that had forgotten how to taste anything but darkness, that had fed on fear for so long it could no longer recognize any other flavor.

Lunatic

Lunatic

I think I saw eyes, bright as if they glowed and colored like amber. It made little sense to me and I wasn’t feeling ready to give the effort it would take to understand the images, maybe once I’m not so groggy I’ll try again. For now my attention slide to the window. The plain white metal blinds were turned horizontal to let in the light, not that there was much to let in. The room didn’t appear to be nearly as bright as I had first thought, actually it seemed rather dark. A loud but low rumble rolled through the room. A storm was coming. That’s when it all came back.

The Hidden Realm

The Hidden Realm

EVERYONE strolled up at their fastest pace carefully. The higher the elevation, the way went harder, especially the temperature became hotter, and they could only use minimal magic to protect themselves without activating the runes. They couldn’t count the numbers of Shadows killed going up. When they reached the last part of the labyrinth a few kilometers away from the fortress, they had encountered stronger Shadows. The fight was risky. Two of the enemies almost escaped calling for reinforcements. But Zenus acted fast. His two swords had hit the necks of the Shadows then Airoh quickly burned their dead bodies to ash.

Spellbound

The hair goes up on my arms and neck and you can feel the malevolence in the room, taste it on your tongue. I look back at Maeve and I see that her eyes are open, but they are opaque, unseeing, and light is shining out of them. As I watch, the light in her eyes travels down her face, to her neck and shoulders, then down her arms into Xander’s shoulder. The nasty bubbling goo on his shoulder begins to seep out of him onto the blanket beneath. Immediately, it’s like the blanket grabs onto the goo, fighting with it until it sucks it into the threads of the blanket.

This "next gen" story in The Guardian series is more in line with the original series but doesn't disappoint. Honestly this series could go on for years and I'll read them all, they're that great. This author updates regularly & always concludes her books. No fear of abandoned books w/ Cooper.
