Holding his Khortaal before him, he waited for the creature’s next assault.
It never came. The beast was flung back in the same manner as the first had been, tumbling through another section of wall near the door. Andric saw Kayse standing to one side, breathing heavily, his hands shaking as he held them before himself. “Thank you,” he breathed.
The Kulavaar nodded. They watched in horror as their foes got up, rising to come at them again. The one whose tendons Andric had cut was pulling itself toward the house with its huge arms, intent on getting to them.
