They exchanged several pleasantries, and Uncle Patrick cracked a lot of jokes before the topic of me was raised. “Uncle, this is Anne-Marie Scott, my girlfriend,” Vincent introduced, placing his hand on the small of my black, gently urging me forward. “Hello sir, it’s a pleasure meeting you,” I said, conjuring up all the courteousness I was never taught.

He simply looked up at Jake with a look of polite, devastating condescension. "I apologize for interrupting your little drama, Mr. Floyd," Vincent said. His voice was a deep baritone, unamplified, yet it carried to the furthest corners of the hall. "My name is Vincent Vale. I am here on behalf of Vector Holdings."

He wouldn't be rushed for anything and we all knew this. He got up slowly, moving smoothly over to the bar at the corner of the room. “You boys want a drink?” He asked. Elias and I glanced at each other quickly. “We’re alright boss.” He responded on our behalf. “Right.” Vincent scoffed and poured himself a finger of scotch. His movements were calm, almost lazy but I knew that was only because he was trying to mask the rage he felt underneath.

You don't need to know the details, but, trust me on this. Stay far away from him." I numbly nodded, struggling to process the fact that Vincenzo had taken someone's life. The image of him, the man with the dark eyes and dangerous demeanor, flashed before me, "Okay..." And then Scott put on a panty-dropping smile, trying to diffuse the situation as he saw my tense expression, "How was your birthday, crazy girl?"
