I was shocked at his request, to be honest it confused me. If he believed me then why would he want to make a bet, knowing he would risk the chance of being wrong? The idea of a bet wasn’t making any sense to me so I decided to ask him a question instead. “Why do you want to make a bet? If you believe me, which you said you did, why the bet?” I continued to look at his face so I could read his facial expressions. People always gave away so much in non-verbal communication. It had never occurred to me that he might have had an ulterior motive to the bet. I waited for his response quietly not realizing that we were at a stop light.

"I can't make these calls alone. They need your perspective." There was a pause on the other end of the line. "Okay," he said finally. "I'll be there in thirty minutes." He arrived looking carefully neutral. We didn't hug or touch or do any of the intimate things we'd been doing before Wednesday's disaster. We just... existed in the same space professionally. I couldn't believe the my words. Jack chuckles and looks at his friends while standing. " Aw, you brought your buddy, " Jack says while looking at Ace. His friends are laughing like idiots. Let's say that Jack was all purple and blue after about five minutes.
