I said conversationally, “you’d be dead before your brain even knew what hit it. It’s funny, really. Just one soft push, and your blood flow would be interrupted, oxygen cutting off.”
“W-What—”
I smiled wider. “Yup, as easy as that.”
She stared at me, frozen but I could feel the tremor in her pulse under my fingers. Alive. Stupidly alive.
“We humans are ridiculous,” I said softly. “Even after dying, we still find ways to fear death.”
Her eyes darted to the side, searching for something so I leaned closer, my voice dropping to a whisper. “Relax, sweetheart. I’m not going to kill you. The game won’t let me, remember?”
