I growled, feeling a complex mixture of relief and annoyance.
Natalie looked at me then, her green-gold eyes luminous with unshed tears. The sight of her tear-streaked face defused my anger immediately, replacing it with a strange tenderness I wasn't prepared for.
"I'm sorry," she whispered. "I didn't think you'd wake up."
I shook my head, exasperation warring with bewilderment. "Normal wolves don't cry for fun, Natalia."
"I wasn't crying for fun," she insisted. "I was testing my healing progress."
