The Black Wolf
“I know. Your soul is bound to a divine being.”
My breath caught. “That’s right,” I said, exchanging a glance with Zevarion.
“I cannot remove the wolf within you,” she continued, her voice a gentle breeze, “but I can perform a ritual that will still its fury, halt its shifting, so it can no longer hurt others.”
I looked to Zevarion. He gave a slow, approving nod.
“Please... I’d like that,” I said.
“Good,” she replied, rising to her feet.
She crossed to her shelf, an elegant rainbow of tiny potion bottles, feathers, glowing crystals, and flower-pressed scrolls, and selected a small vial. It was filled with sparkling pink dust that shimmered like powdered stars.
