I could feel my heart shattering into tiny pieces at the sight of Brian and Becca cuddling on my bed, the bed that symbolized my bond with Brian. They were giggling with so much joy and I heard Becca moan out the words to him

“Yes, I’ll marry you,”

If someone had told me, I wouldn't have believed, but here I am, a living witness to my indirect rejection.

Today was supposed to be our mating anniversary, a day I had anticipated with a special gift for Brian; a gift that would strengthen not just our bond but also renew his Alpha position in the pack. That gift, now crumbled in my hand as I watched my mate confess his love to a Beta female. I didn't know what hurt more, his confession of love or his proposal.

Brian's voice sliced through my thoughts. “Only yours, Becca. You're my true mate,” he pulled her close, their lips meeting with a fervor that turned my stomach.

Memories of our years together flashed before my eyes; our first night under the stars, the countless battles we fought side by side, the quiet moment of shared laughter and whispered dreams. How could those moments mean nothing to him now, all because of Becca?

Becca, daughter of the Beta of South Moon Pack was Brian's first love who had gone into the arms of the Alpha Liam three years ago, leaving Brian heartbroken.

Now that he had been crowned as the alpha of the pack and had gained emotional stability, she had returned for a reason I know not.

The sight of this shattered me deeply as I fell to my knees. Becca's steps echoed toward me. She slammed the door shut and turned the lock with a decisive click.

“Bee, you said you'd get rid of her, why's she still here?”

Brian's response was cold and dismissive. “Calm down, sweetie, don't get yourself worked up because of some barren wolf,”

I was dumbfounded to hear my mate of over three years call me a barren in the presence of a slut who had left him for another alpha.

Hot tears streamed down my face as I clenched my fist tightly to the report. The paper crinkled under the pressure, a stark contrast to the softness of my emotions. The door flung open, Brian stood there, arms crossed and flexing his muscles.

“Why are you still here?” he asked coldly.

Kira told me to walk away, but my heart kept pushing me to speak up. “It's our mating anniversary today” I stammered.

As if I had just cracked a joke, the duo burst into laughter immediately.

“Mating anniversary? It seems you're still not getting it. Tell her my love,” Becca bragged, lifting her finger to show me the proposal ring.

Brian shamelessly shared his proposal to Becca and his wish to claim her as his mate.

I opened my mouth, but no words came out. Just my lips shaking.

Brian didn't even care, he pulled Becca close to himself and stroked her hair, playing with each other lovingly, ignoring my presence.

Tears flow down my face as I burst out crying, intending to slowly tuck the report into my cloth behind my back, but Becca caught me.

“Bee, what's that paper in her hands?” she asked, pointing her finger towards me, her face twisted with disdain.

“No, she can't see this.” I muttered under my breath, tearing the analysis part of the paper and throwing it into my mouth. I chewed it as fast as I could, but Brian was quicker. He grabbed my throat, pulling my hair roughly as I choked on the paper and spat it out.

Becca's eyes widened as she snatched the remnant from me. “It's a pregnancy report.”

Brian got up immediately,

“it's negative again I guess, that's why she chewed that part. There's nothing to worry about darling.”

“Are you sure?” Becca asked, glaring coldly at me.

In an attempt to convince her, Brian said,

“You want me to show you all of the reports in the last five years?”

Becca's eyes were fixed on me as she gave me an evil smirk. “Yes. I need to be sure.”

Brian turned, walking towards the shelf. “Don't Brian.” I said as I rushed forward to grab him by the hand. He shoved my hands off and I fell flat on my tummy. My body crashed to the floor as I groan in pain.

“Bee, she's bleeding!” I heard Becca’s voice faintly as my eyes shut against my will.

I opened my eye to the beeping sound of the machine near my bed as the smell of drugs came streaming into my nostrils, making me feel irritated. I tried to get rid of it by swaying my head, but it only grew stronger.

“How are you feeling now Luna?” A voice asked behind me, and I recognize it instantly. It's Jade. The Pack’s doctor and one of the few friends I have before I became a Luna. He was the one who texted and revealed my pregnancy to me after I had complained a few abnormal symptoms to him.

“I'm fine except for the irritating smell of drugs.” I said as I forced myself to sit up.

“You had a hard fall and lost some blood, with medications, you'll be fine,” he said.

The moment she talked about blood, my mind went to my little pup.

“How about my baby? Is my little Brian, okay?” I questioned. Doctor Jade stared at me without uttering a word, and it was beginning to frighten me.

“Talk to me,” I said and just then, Brian interrupted.

“Oh! Good you're awake. Did the pregnancy report you brought to me earlier tested positive?” Brian said as he walked into the room, letting out a breath like he was scared.

I silently hissed and turned my face away.

“You were going to hide it away from me?” he questioned, his tone and temper all calm, slowly taking away my fear. “Please talk to me, Luna.” He said as he moved closer and held my hands.

“Well, I was pregnant, but now, I don't know.” I said as I slowly turned my face. I caught Becca staring at me with her brows creased and arms folded.

“Doctor Jade. Please run the tests now. The bloodwork and that picture thingy” Brian ordered.

Brian had been with me to the hospital multiple times, whenever I feel any slight discomfort, we would rush to the hospital to check if I was pregnant, but the test read same over the years; negative. Due to that, he was quite familiar with the process.

Jade took a deep breath before shifting his gaze to Brian. “I'm sorry Alpha....but we couldn't save your baby.” I guess she came in a little bit too late.

I felt Brian’s hand slowly pulling away from mine.

“Fuck!” Brian said angrily, pacing around the room.

“I know it's disheartening for you, but please don't dwell too much on it. The moon goddess will bless us with an heir that would rule the pack very soon,” Jade said and excused himself out of the room.

Brian took a sharp look at me once before storming out of the room with Becca following him.

I closed my eyes tightly as I held onto my lower abdomen.

“That was my little pup. But now, it's… gone.” I sobbed.

“Alpha left already. Will you be fine?” Doctor Jade said, entering the room.

I nodded in agreement without lifting my head. “For three years, I've prayed fervently. I did everything I could and now that it paid off, Becca killed my pup. I swear I'll kill her.”

“I understand how you feel Luna, but please calm down.” Doctor Jade said, but I wasn't ready to listen.

“I won't. Not until after I kill that witch.” I could feel Kira growling angrily inside me. With my fangs and claws out, I stormed out of the hospital.
