LOGINYara’s Perspective
He speaks of us like we are nothing, she snarled. Let me out. I will tear him apart. I will mark him as prey.
Her anger surged through my veins, hot and violent. My hands trembled as her power slammed against my skin, searching for release.
Not now, I whispered to her. Not yet.
He rejected us, she snapped. He broke the bond. This pain demands blood.
I pressed my lips together, forcing my breathing to stay steady.
I need him alive, I told her. I need him ruined first.
She paced inside me, claws scraping against the edges of my control. Her fury beat against my ribs, wild and relentless, but she did not break free.
Soon, she growled. Promise me soon.
Soon, I answered.
I closed my eyes and used magic to push her energy down. It took effort. It felt like holding back a storm with bare hands. But I managed to cover her presence again.
I breathed in and out slowly. I was not a helpless Omega, I would not let them play with me.
I would show them exactly what I could do.
A soft sound came from down the hall. A breathy moan. Then the creak of a bed.
I stood up, holding the phone. My hand shook a little, but my steps were steady. I walked toward the sound.
I picked up a knife from Judy’s sewing basket and walked toward the second bedroom.
My heart was steady now. My breathing was steady and my anger was not loud anymore, it was sharp and clear.
I pushed the door open.
The scene inside hit me all at once.
Judy lay under Daniel. She was wearing my pajamas. The soft lavender ones Daniel had once told me made me look “fragile in a pretty way.”
Judy moaned loudly. “This is so exciting,” she said, her voice full of pleasure.
Daniel held her hips and thrust into her. His voice was breathless. “You’re such a slut,” he said, laughing. His tone was not hateful. It was playful. It was the way lovers talk.
The sight hurt, but it also fueled something sharp in me. My anger did not shake me now. It steadied me.
I lifted the knife in my hand and shouted, “Judy!”
Both of them froze.
Judy clung to Daniel’s neck. Her voice came out tight. “Why are you panicking? She’s blind,” she whispered to him.
I kept my eyes unfocused, pretending not to see them at all.
I stepped further into the room and swung the knife in Judy’s direction. I did not strike her. I just swung close enough for her to feel the air move.
She screamed. Her whole body jerked back. Her knees hit Daniel’s stomach.
“What are you doing?” she cried. Her arms trembled. “Are you trying to kill me?”
Daniel swore under his breath. He tried to hide himself and roll away from her.
I pulled the knife back calmly. “No,” I said. “How could I? Murder is against the law.” I made my voice sound confused and gentle.
I reached into my robe and pulled out an orange fruit I picked up earlier from the kitchen. “I only want you to help me peel this apple," I said.
Judy stared at me. Her face was pale and her eyes were wide.
She seemed angry but also scared.
She grabbed the knife from me with shaking fingers. “Fine,” she muttered. “I’ll cut it.”
I slowly sat on the edge of the bed, pretending to feel my way. The mattress dipped slightly. I kept my expression calm.
Daniel rolled off the bed in a panic. He hit the floor harder than he planned. The sheet slipped, and he stumbled as he tried to get up.
He moved quickly, desperate to dress himself.
I looked in Judy’s direction and asked quietly, “Why are you so nervous? You haven't done anything to be sorry about, have you?”
She froze a bit.
At this moment, Daniel was quietly pulling on his pants, trying to slip away without making a sound. He thought I couldn’t see him.
He moved slowly, careful and tense, hoping I would stay focused on Judy.
Just as he reached the edge of the bed and tried to turn toward the door, I suddenly said, “Daniel.”
He froze and turned back toward me in surprise.
YARA's povI looked up at the werewolf police officer with a non-focused gaze, and found that although the expression on his face remained calm, his eyes were calculated and shrewd as he studied me."First of all, I would like to offer you my deep condolences for the passing of the Alpha. It's been a terrible past couple of days for all of us in the pack as a collective, but I should reckon that you feel this grief much more deeply."His voice was calm as he spoke, even a bit kind, but it didn't erase how he looked at me.
YARA's POVDaniel was gaining ground on us with each passing moment."You can run, Yara! But I'm going to catch you!" Daniel roared, and he sounded so vengeful that my heart stuttered from the nagging fear that grew inside of me.I could hear the way he swung the axe in the air, and I couldn't shake off the fear that he could simply throw the axe and it would land on either Jeremiah or me.Suddenly I heard him stop running, but I didn't try to look around and see what happened, instead circle round the house and decided that I would jump over
YARA's povI quickly made my way to the closet where Jeremiah was, with as much stealth as I could possibly manage.Every step I took felt deafening in the darkness and I kept expecting Daniel to turn suddenly in my direction. All the while, Daniel kept swiping his axe, hitting the wall several times because he clearly couldn't see what he was doing as he vowed to wipe me off the face of the earth."Damn you, Yara! I'm going to kill you! And once I'm done, I'm going to feed your body parts to the ravens! You foolish b*tch!"My heart was racing, but I couldn't keep my focus on what Daniel wished and dreamed he could do to me. Instead, I quietly opened the closet door, slapped my mouth over Jeremiah's mouth to keep him from speaking out, while I spoke to Daniel to mask the sound of the closet door opening and closing."Threats and more threats, that's all you're good at, Daniel. But it seems it's escaped your notice that right now, we are both like blind men, and I'm the one who is mos
YARA's POVMy heart thudded in my chest as I slowly backed away from him into the corner of the room.Daniel was many things, but he wasn't a wimp. If he was holding out that axe in front of me, it was because he intended to use it. But even then, I had no intentions to make any of it easy for him."I'm not scared of you, Daniel and you better believe that I want you dead just as much as you want me gone too." I spat and looked at him with as much disgust as I could manage. But that was a lie, because I was terrified as hell. But he wanted me to be scared of him and I refused to give him the satisfaction."But don't come here and play the victim as though everything you ever truly did was for me and our child. No, Daniel! Everything you ever did was for you and you alone! You wanted more than you deserved and it was your greed, your disgusting desire for more that pushed you, not me, and definitely not Jeremiah!""You don't know anything! Just shut your mouth!""I know enough. More t
YARA's POV"You animal! How did I never see just how evil you actually are?" I spat, and smiled at me cruelly."Now you see it, and a bit too late too. Because I promise you that I'm going to be the very last person you see before you leave this world. I'm going to kill you, Yara. Then perhaps I could send that silly little pup of yours to join you for comfort."Blood rushed into my head when I heard the threat he made against my son, and I felt my heart beat fast in utter outrage."Not if I kill you first, you bloody son of a gun!" I swore and ran head first toward him, with my hands outstretched to grip his neck."B*tch." I heard him swear and he held out his hand to block me.But I was still able to get a hold of him. I shifted my hands into claws, and struck at every exposed flesh I could find, making him bleed as much as I could manage."Damn it, you little brat!" Daniel roared as he grabbed me by the neck and pushed me hard against the wall. "What? Did you think you could ever e
YARA's POVI looked around the room for a space to hide and left without a choice, rushed to hide under the bed, my heart beating against the floor pads as I listened to Daniel's footsteps raw closer to the room. Each step seemed louder than the last, echoing through my skull until I could barely hear anything over the frantic pounding of my own heart.About a minute later, he pushed open the room door, walked into the room, and stopped several feet away from the bed."Yara?!" He roared, and his voice was laced with irritation and anger. "I know you’re in here, Yara. Your scent is very strong, so just come out and stop playing hide and seek with me."I pressed my lips together and felt my heart rate increase when he walked away from the bed. But he seemed to be only pacing across the room."You're supposed to be dead, you dumb b*tch." I heard him mutter and caught the frustration in his voice. "What the hell went wrong? And where the hell is that little brat anyway?"He stopped moving
Yara’s PovJudy rushed downstairs the moment Ryker started crying. That was my opening. The medicine cup sat in my hand, warm against my palm. I stared at it, my stomach tightening. The liquid inside looked the same as always, cloudy and faintly yellow, with a smell that made my throat itch.I coul
Yara’s PovFrom the moment I woke up, I kept waiting for something to happen. A knock at the door. Judy calling my name. Any sign that Rebecca had received my message and acted on it. I replayed the words I had sent her, again and again, wondering if I had explained myself clearly. Maybe I had soun
Yara’s POVThe lights flickered again. I stared at the ceiling. The power was coming back. “Damn it,” I whispered. If the hallway cameras restarted before I got out of Daniel’s office, I was finished.I stomped my foot hard against the floor in frustration. There was no time to panic. I moved on in
Yara’s POVI searched Daniel’s pen holder first. I pulled out every pen, checked the base, and even shook it lightly. Nothing fell out. I moved to the drawer beside it and opened it. Inside were files and documents, arranged neatly and evenly. Everything looked untouched. My gaze shifted to the saf
