Rhea’s POV

“I love you.”

Three words, and just like that, sleep was off the table.

  • Obsessed With My Father’s Boss    Making A Statement

Rhea’s POV“I love you.”Three words, and just like that, sleep was off the table.I lay there rerunning them until the ceiling started to blur, then gave up and paced the room instead, already halfway into a fantasy where morning brought some grand confession. I actually reached for my phone to call Lyra before I caught myself. Nobody wants a two a.m. call that starts with “so my husband might have said something.”I watched him for any sign he meant it, some follow-up, some clue. Nothing came. The night gave up on me faster than I gave up on it, and when I woke the next morning, I was tucked in alone, the duvet pulled snug around me, as if someone had actually taken a moment to arrange it.Heat crept up my neck. I’d passed out on the couch. He’d carried me to bed.I was up in seconds, into the bathroom, a rushed splash of water on my face, and out the door before I could second-guess the outfit I hadn’t even changed. My steps slowed once his door came into view, and I made a show of

  • Obsessed With My Father’s Boss    All I needed was patience

Rhea’s POVHe didn’t come after me.That was the part that stuck. Not the sleepless night, not the silence on the other side of the wall, but the fact that come morning, he was smiling as if none of it had happened. He even made breakfast, which was new. In all this time, he’d never once made me breakfast.I sat across the table and watched him play house with someone else, right in front of me, and still find a spare second to lean over and peck my cheek like it cost him nothing. Like it meant nothing. Maybe it didn’t.Rowan stayed home for days after that, wrapped up in Vee, and I existed somewhere at the edge of the picture. I told myself she’d get bored and leave eventually, and I would still be standing there when she did. That was the lie I fed myself to get through each day.I called Lyra so many times my thumb ached from redialing. Nothing. When I finally showed up at her door, she wouldn’t even open it all the way.“Go back to your dear husband,” was all she gave me.The day

  • Obsessed With My Father’s Boss    Watching Him Choose Her

Rhea’s POV“Lyra, wait!” I called, but she didn’t even glance back. She marched straight toward them like a woman on a mission from God.“Excuse me.” Lyra stopped in front of the couple. Rowan didn’t turn.“Excuse me, Mr. Langston.” Closer this time. That got him.The making-out couple finally noticed they had an audience.“Good evening, Miss. Do you know he’s married?” Lyra asked. My mouth fell open. That had to be the weirdest opening line in the history of confrontations.Even in the dim light, I could see the disgust curling across the woman’s face.“Lang, who is this bitch?” she said sweetly, hand still draped on Rowan’s neck, eyes crawling over Lyra like she’d found something on the bottom of her shoe.Lang. Really. I stood frozen, useless as a houseplant.“I’m the type of bitch who doesn’t mess with someone else’s husband,” Lyra said, stepping forward. For a second I thought she was actually going to swing. I knew Lyra, she had zero chill on a good day. But instead she turned t

  • Obsessed With My Father’s Boss    Charade

Rhea’s POV“You are just one of them.”The words kept ringing in my head, even as we landed at the airport, even through the solo drive back home. I couldn’t shake them off. I had thought I was special, at least to some point. Even my whole charade had been for nothing. All the plans I’d made, to walk into the airport, talk to a few reporters, make the headlines again, ended in nothing. I’d had to cover my face with glasses and a mask and run straight into the car. My cute outfit, wasted.I sat alone in my room, eyes fixed on the moving clock, somehow wanting to believe it was all fake, that Mia was just doing everything she could to drive a wedge between us.I held onto that thought when I fell asleep, and I woke up still holding it. But this time Mia had flooded my inbox with more pictures, captioned: good morning, Mrs. Langston. She was mocking me.I woke up day after day waiting for him. No appearance. And Mia kept the pictures coming, tears rolling down my cheeks. Thankfully, I d

  • Obsessed With My Father’s Boss    Just One Of Them

Rhea’s POVMy smile vanished instantly as I looked at the note.Hope you didn’t choke. Then, Mia.Despite the cold room, I felt a surge of heat, and my mouth went dry. Had this girl poisoned the food?I didn’t trust her. I couldn’t. I grabbed my phone, threw on the nearest gown, and went straight to the hospital. The language barrier was doing a number on me, and I was doing a number right back, but thanks to the translator, I managed to describe everything. After a series of tests, I was clean.I sat in the waiting room, cold air rushing through me, filled with rage now instead of fear. Mia was playing with fire. When I got home, I met a pissed Rowan. Apparently he’d been calling and I hadn’t picked up, all thanks to Mia’s cheap trick.“I’m sorry, I had to rush to the hospital.” The words had barely left my mouth when Rowan stood immediately, turning me around slowly.“Are you okay?” he asked, so much worry in his eyes.I didn’t know how to tell him I’d been tricked by Mia, so I jus

  • Obsessed With My Father’s Boss    Something In The Note

Rhea’s POVI told myself he was joking. I wanted that so badly I almost believed it.So I let the night carry me. The wine helped, Turkish wine has a way of making bad decisions feel like good ones, and I stopped counting glasses somewhere around the third. The slow songs gave way to something with a pulse. Rowan leaned over, mouth against my ear. “Now the party starts.”People rose around us like the music had pulled them up by invisible strings. I stayed seated, nodding along, until my song came on, and something in me just stood up before I’d decided to. My body remembered the beat before my brain caught up.Rowan watched me the whole time. Not politely. Like a man doing math on how much longer he could wait.I gave him a reason to stop waiting. I dropped low in front of him, worked my hips the way I hadn’t in years, came back up slow. He didn’t dance so much as he moved with the idea of me. When the song ended I turned for the table, thinking wine, thinking water, thinking anythi

  • Obsessed With My Father’s Boss    A Wife Needed

A Few Days Back!!AUTHOR’S POV Rowan Langston was halfway out of his office when his phone rang.He had just shrugged into his jacket, his mind already shifting to numbers, timelines, and a client who hated being kept waiting. • Obsessed With My Father’s Boss    Eyes on Him

Rhea’s POV I woke up feeling like someone had used my head for drumming practice all night. My eyes opened slowly, and the first thing I felt was pain sitting right behind them. I groaned and rolled to the other side of my bed, pressing my face into the pillow like that would magically fix my life

  • Obsessed With My Father’s Boss    Almost Caught

AUTHOR’S POV“Erhm… nothing,” Rhea replied quickly, trying to keep her eyes from drifting to the pillow.“I sure heard something,” Mr. Rowan said as he stepped fully into the room, his eyes darting around curiously.Rhea’s stomach dropped. “I don’t… I don’t hear anything.”Rowan began walking close

  • Obsessed With My Father’s Boss    Just A Contract, Not Love Yet

No ill intentions. One
