Dahlia

Getting murdered wasn't exactly on my schedule tonight and neither was getting some homicidal asshole blood on the ridiculously expensive dress I'd bought three hours earlier.

Again.

The bass thumped through the floorboards of The Velvet Den, an underground club which was exactly the kind of place my father had strictly forbidden me from visiting. Not that it stopped me.

Lucien Argent could double the patrols, assign ten guards to follow me around and deliver a two hour speech about responsibility and pack image every morning at breakfast. I would still sneak out.

What was he going to do? Ground a grown woman?

Actually he would.

I was halfway through my second overpriced golden cocktail when a body pressed against my back.

A Male.

I could feel his thick cock pressing into my behind.

"Dancing alone, beautiful lady?" He leaned closer to my ear. I didn't turn around, that would be too eager. Instead, I let my head fall back just enough to brush his shoulder. "Who says I'm alone?"

His hands found my hips. Fingers splayed, possessive without permission. Any other wolf would have lost a finger for that but tonight..... Tonight I wanted to feel something other than suffocation.

"Bold," I said, tilting my chin so he could see my smile. "You know who my father is?"

"Everyone knows who your father is." He spun me around. Dark eyes, sharp jaw, pretty face. Looked like the kind of man who'd probably practiced that smirk in a mirror. "The question is, do you care?"

I laughed heartily.

"Oh sweetheart," I gestured around us. "I'm drinking in an illegal club wearing this..." I waved at myself. "What do you think?"

His grin windened, his thumb tracing my hip bone through the fabric. "I think you're trouble."

"Now you are paying attention."

His hands traced my bottom lip, I stuck out my tongue and playfully licked his thumb. "I like trouble. "

The corner of my lip curved up. "Then your standards are dangerously low."

God, this was nice. Not him specifically, just this. The flirting, the attention, the freedom. For five glorious minutes, I wasn't Lucien Argent's daughter, I wasn't the future Luna, I was just Dahlia.

Dahlia who talked too much. Dahlia who laughed too loudly. Dahlia who refused to shrink herself to make powerful men comfortable.

His lips brushed my ear. "You know... I've got a room upstairs. It's soundproof so we wouldn't be interrupted."

My heart skipped, I always loved this part.

Where I had to say yes or no and the men held their breath to hear what my answer would be. I was the one in control.

"No," I said pulling back enough to see his face fall. " But you can buy me another drink and maybe I'll change my mind."

Something flickered in his eyes. Disappointment? No, something else.

His hand slid from hip to my lower back, and lower. His fingers pressed against the base of my spine and that's when I felt it.

Cold, sharp, the tip of a blade.

"I was hoping you'd say yes," he murmured, and his smile widened. "Easier that way, less mess."

Oh for the love of.... Seriously? Yet again?

My blood turned to ice.

The third time, the third fucking time.

I opened my mouth to scream, to shift, to do anything, but his other hand covered my lips and the knife pressed harder against my skin.

I couldn't move, I couldn't breathe. I realized that I was going to die here in this club and my father would say I told you so at my funeral.

Then the man's body wasn't there anymore. I blinked, What?

One moment, his body was pressed against mine and the next, his body was flying sideways, definitely ripped off me.

I stumbled back and slammed into the bar. My heart was beating fast in my chest.

Around us, chaos erupted. People scattered, someone screamed. The music kept playing like nothing was happening.

My body froze. I ran to hide behind a stool when a tall figure grabbed my attacker by the throat and cracked his neck.

Oh my God.

The knife on the man's hand fell on the floor.

The figure straightened. Dark brown disheveled hair, broad shoulders under a black jacket. He turned and his eyes met mine.

The air caught in my lungs.

My wolf, my traitorous wolf, sat up inside my chest and whined.

Run, I told myself. Shift, scream, do something.

I couldn't.

He walked toward me, each step sent my heart racing. I should have been scared, Oh wait I was scared but not because he had just killed a man... No, I'd seen that countless times. But this stranger, whoever he is, did it without breaking a sweat. He hadn't raised his voice. He ended a threat like swatting a fly and now he was looking at me like I was the next problem on his list.

"You're Dahlia Argent," he stated.

I raised my brows, my voice coming out steadier than I felt. "And you're the man who just killed my date, we're even on introductions."

His jaw twitched. "He was going to kill you."

Thank you? Was that what he was expecting? Maybe another time. I crossed my arms and glared. "I had it under control."

"You had a knife to your spine."

"I've had worse."

His eyes darkened. His hands curled into fists at his side like he was trying so hard to control his anger and I wasn't making it easier.

"I don't doubt it," he muttered.

I straightened my dress. My eyes caught a tear in the sequins. Damn it, "Who are you?"

"I'm Roman Wolfe," he crossed his arms. "Your father hired me."

My jaw dropped. "My father doesn't know I'm here."

"You'd be surprised," he said, moving closer, close enough that I could smell him, woodsmoke and something.... I couldn't name it but it made my wolf perk up again.

"I'm your new bodyguard and you're coming home with me. Now."

Roman The rain wouldn't stop falling. I kept moving, walking a path through the wet underbrush while Dahlia stayed close behind me. My jacket swallowed her whole but she didn't complain about it, didn't complain about the cold either or the mud sucking at her boots with every step. For someone who spent most of her time being dramatic about everything, she knew when to shut up and move. I'd give her that much. My ears were locked onto every sound in those trees. Every move of a branch. Every shift in the wet air. My hand hadn't left my weapon since we stepped out of the cabin. My wolf was restless, snapping at every shadow moving between the trunks like something was already out there watching us. Maybe something was. We were about a mile out, closing in on where the logging trail met the edge of the neutral territory, when I felt my thigh vibrate. I stopped immediately. Stand back. Dahlia froze behind me without a sound, her eyes wide under the hood of my jacket. Good girl.

  • Teasing Her Alpha Guard    Chapter 10

Roman My hand gripped the door frame, the wood groaning slightly under my palm as I held Dahlia pinned against it. She was looking up at me, her blue eyes wide, bright and completely aware of the damage she was doing. She wanted a reaction, she was begging for one. I didn't give her one. I forced my breathing to slow, pushing down the heavy, steady thud of my wolf's pulse in my ears. My eyes traced the line of her throat, down to the ridiculous sliver fabric that barely covered her chest. She was practically naked. The back of the dress didn't exist, all smooth golden skin down to her hips. Any other wolf would have had her pinned on the nearest flat surface by now. I was not any other wolf, that was the only thing keeping my hands off her. "Maybe I want to get burned, bodyguard," she whispered, her lips parting with that small challenging smile. "Maybe I want to see what happens when a machine like you breaks." "You don't know what you're asking for," I said. My voice came

Dahlia The next morning, I didn't wake up angry. I woke up calculating. The revelation of the encrypted message had changed the rules of the game. I was no longer just a spoiled Alpha's daughter trying to run off from a pesky bodyguard because I wanted my freedom. I was a woman fighting for survival, trapped with a man who was either my ultimate savior or my most dangerous enemy. To get the truth, I needed him weak, vulnerable and stripped of that suffocating, robotic professionalism. I walked over to the old cedar wardrobe standing in the corner of the bedroom. Roman had apparently brought a single duffel bag of my belongings from the estate before it burned, likely grabbing whatever he could throw into a sack during the chaos. I unzipped it, flipping through the contents until my fingers brushed against something metallic and heavy. A dress. Not just any dress. This was a custom, heavy silk piece I had bought for an elite Alpha gala I never got to attend. It was liquid silver

  • Teasing Her Alpha Guard    Chapter 8

DahliaThe cabin door had been left open a little, allowing a bit of the night air to cut through the heavy warmth of the interior. I pressed my face near the gap, peeping out into the moonlit clearing. The black SUV sat under the canopy of a massive pine tree, its hood propped open.Roman was leaning over the engine bay, the bright beam of a flashlight held between his teeth as his large hands worked on something deep within the engine. His back was entirely to me, his attention split between the vehicle and the dark perimeter of the forest.I slipped through the doorway like a ghost, the silk of my robe rubbing against my ankles. My heart hammered against my ribs, a wild, erratic rhythm that had nothing to do with fear and everything to do with the thrill of the hunt. I wasn't trying to escape into the woods.I knew better than to test my luck against a trained predator in his own territory.I had a different target. As I approached the passenger side of the vehicle, shielded from R

DahliaThe morning light filtering through the heavy curtains was thick with dust motes and completely unforgiving.I woke up, if you could even call the miserable, fitful hours of drifting I'd managed "sleep," feeling like I'd been dragged through a hedge backwards. Every muscle in my body ached, my eyes felt full of sand and the lingering scent of Roman on the pillows was doing unholy things to my temper.I sat up, tossing the heavy wool blanket aside with a frustrated groan. The anger from the night before hadn't dissolved; it had simmered, turning into a thick, volatile sludge at the bottom of my stomach.A mistake. The words repeated in my head, a rhythmic, taunting chant. He had tasted me, he had possessed me with his eyes, he had practically growled into my skin about how I belonged to him and the second things got difficult, he drew a line in the sand and told me to stay on my side of it."Coward," I muttered to the empty room, swinging my legs over the edge of the bed.My bar

  • Teasing Her Alpha Guard    Chapter 6

DahliaThe red eyed rogue didn't even have time to snap his jaws. Before his claws could slice through the air where my throat had been a second ago, Roman moved. He didn't just step in front of me; he became a shield of pure lethal muscle. With a guttural roar that made the wall tremble, Roman caught the attacker mid air, slamming him into the stoned floor with enough force to break the tiles. The rogue recovered with frightening speed. He rolled, sprang back to his feet and lunged again, his claws aiming towards Roman's throat. Roman twisted sideways at the last second, avoiding the strike by inches before driving his elbow hard into the rogue's ribs. Bone cracked. The rogue staggered but didn't fall. Instead, he snarled and launched himself towards me at full speed.I froze but Roman didn't.He intercepted the rogue before he could reach me, wrapping one powerful arm around his neck and wrenching him backward. The man's claws roamed wildly through the air, missing my face by barely

Dahlia We shouldn't have been doing this. Every rational part of my brain was screaming it. He was my bodyguard, my father's employee. A man I'd sworn to break within a week. "Fuck. We shouldn't..." "Stop," he snapped, running a hand through his hair. "Don't think about it, don't regret it.

  • Teasing Her Alpha Guard    CHAPTER 4

Dahlia I licked my lips, tasting the salty taste of Roman cum. Not a single drop wasted. I swallowed everything deliberately. His massive frame towered over me, chest rising and falling like he had run a marathon, hands clenched at his sides as if fighting the urge to drag me back onto his cock.

  • Teasing Her Alpha Guard    CHAPTER 2

DahliaI learned two things about Roman Wolfe in the first twenty four hours. One: The man was a snitch. Two: I couldn't trust him as far as I could throw him and I couldn't throw him at all. The bastard probably weighed twice what I did. I stood in front of my father in his study, head lowered.

  • Teasing Her Alpha Guard    CHAPTER 3

Roman I wrapped her naked body against my chest, water droplets traced lazy paths down her skin and I couldn't tear my eyes away. Gods, she is beautiful. My eyes trailed slowly from the curve of her neck, down to the swell of her breasts, perfect and heaving as she breaths. Her nipples were ha
