Chapter I
Freya “Faster,” he growled, his hands gripping my waist, as he guided me, forcing me to ride on him harder. I loved the raw sound of his moans. My palms pressed flat against his hard chest, feeling the muscles flex and burn beneath my touch with every thrust. He suddenly tightened his hold and slammed up into me from below, fast and deep. The sudden intensity stole my breath. I had to pause, trembling, just to savor every thick inch of him stretching me. Then he flipped us in one powerful motion. I gasped as my back hit the mattress. He leaned down, capturing one of my breasts in his mouth, sucking hard while his tongue flicked over the sensitive peak. A broken sigh tore from my throat. I threaded my fingers through his hair… I couldn’t even tell the exact colour, and then I pulled his blurred face up to mine, crashing our lips together. It felt real and unreal at the same time. His kiss was sweet and filthy at the same time, sending electric shivers racing down my spine. He pulled back, the energy all over was filled with lust. “Bend over.” I obeyed instantly, turning onto my hands and knees, ass raised toward him in a vulnerable, doggy-style position. “Do you like it?” he asked, right as he lined himself up and pushed inside me with one long, powerful stroke. A broken moan escaped my lips. “Fuck… yeah.” My left cheek pressed into the soft sheets as he started pounding into me, the bed creaking violently beneath us, threatening to break. Pleasure coiled tight and hot in my belly, building fast. Then, without warning, a wave of emotions crashed over me, anger, deep sadness, overwhelming worry… the sheets beneath me grew scorching hot, far hotter than any body heat, like they could melt my fur right off my skin. I screamed. “My baby!” My eyes flew open. I was drenched in sweat, chest heaving. My eyes searched the bright room, I only wanted to take a nap after dropping Theo off at school. It had been a dream… yet it felt so real. I was still in that same room — the exact room I had women up in years ago, after spending the night with Theo’s father. I could still feel the mix of pleasure and those violent emotions that weren’t mine. And the heat… that intense heat still clung to my body. “My baby…” I said quietly, almost like a whisper, heart pounding with sudden terror. Scarlet came rushing into the room, flour dusting her hands and apron. “What’s wrong?” Her eyes widened with concern as she moved closer, there wasn’t a trace of fear on her face. She had stopped being afraid of me after the day Theo was born. I bolted upright, snatching the car keys from the bedside stand. “Theo is in trouble. I have to go.” I pushed past her, heart racing, and ran for the door, heading straight for the door. “I’ll come with you.” Scarlet said, already closing the front door of the house behind us. “Scarlet, you don’t have to—“ “Stop it. And I’ll drive.” I sighed and tossed her the key. On the way to the School, my head spun, I couldn’t stop thinking. What if the humans saw what Theo really was? What if the case had been reported to school authorities? I looked at Scarlet as she drove, I could still remember the fear in her eyes the night Theo was born. The moment she watched me shift between wolf and human, while trying to push him out. I had begged her not to be scared, promising I wouldn’t hurt her, and because she trusted me, she pushed past that fear, helping me bring my son into this world. I doubt most humans are like her. She side-glanced me. “Theo is going to be fine.” I knew he would be physically okay, but that’s not my worry, it was the humans who didn’t understand… the ones who might see him as a monster. Theo was only six months old when I realised something wasn’t right about him. He was so… different. I found old pack remedies and made a herbal concoction he took every morning to suppress his emotions… and powers. But as he clocked 5 last week, the outbursts started getting harder to control. The school wasn’t far. We turned into the driveway and I jumped out before Scarlet had fully stopped. I sniffed the air trying to find exactly where my son was. Then his scent hit me almost immediately. I walked so fast, an external eye might see me as someone crazy in a rush… which I don’t mind at all. I found him in an empty classroom, the air around him shimmered faintly like golden heat rising off a flame. His head was bent low and beside him a woman patted his back gently and whispered something. My wolf grew uneasy, I strained my ears to hear better, “It’s okay, little one. Are you sure your mom will come get you?” “Get away from my son!” I growled… My wolf was closer to the surface than I liked. The woman raised her hands in surrender. It was his teacher, Miss. Elara. “I’m safe. I’m not going to harm him.” Theo ran straight into my arms. I bent down and hugged him tightly as he sobbed against me. I could feel his sadness within. “I’m sorry, Mom.” I rubbed his back gently, “shhh. It’s okay. There’s nothing to be sorry about.” My eyes shot up to Miss Elara, who was watching me carefully. “What happened?” “You should be thanking me and not glaring at me.” She replied. There was a strange scent on her that made my wolf even more angry. I shifted Theo so he was clinging tighter to me. “Mom, she’s right, “ he said, voice small. “A boy tried to bully a boy I know and I wanted to fight him, Miss Elara pulled me away before I could do anything bad. I’m sorry…” He buried his face in my legs. Fear hit me… I lowered my voice. “Did anyone see?”Chapter XVIII FREYA The palace library was a massive room lined with ancient books and scrolls. Today, I was more amazed than the first time I came here with Tasha. At the time, I didn’t get the time to do much research because I needed to check on Theo. This time, I had slipped away after lunch while Scarlet took Theo to play in the gardens. I spent hours searching for anything about powerful young wolves, uncontrollable abilities, or strange markings like the ones on Theo’s back. Just because it calmed down a bit doesn’t mean we should forget the main reason for coming here. I found nothing comforting. Instead, I stumbled across old symbols carved into the edges of some scrolls, the same strange markings I had noticed in the palace architecture. They looked like something meant to contain power… or magic. A chill ran down my spine. I was still staring at one of the symbols when I felt a strong familiar presence behind me. Damon. “Looking for ways to hide my son again?” he
Chapter XVII Freya Some days later, Scarlet was gone before breakfast. For the past four days this was her routine. I had asked her about it and she said I should meet her in the courtyard if I wanted to know. Theo was with his father last night… My wolf didn’t have a problem with it but I did. My son had insisted on staying with the King and Damon accepted him happily. I didn’t want to talk to him after I saw him that day with Seraphine, and especially hearing what that maid said about me and my son being sent away. I know it was a mere rumour but how true was it? I still wonder why he decided to look for a Luna just after my return with my son. Why not then… or later? I find it so hard to understand. I have been avoiding both the ladies and him because they screamed the opposite of peace. I didn’t even speak with him when I went to pick up Theo. Gladly, I found Scarlet in the outer training courtyard, already drenched in sweat. She wore borrowed training leathers that were ob
Chapter XVI Freya Later that evening, I had left Theo with Scarlet just so I could walk the palace a little. I moved to the gardens which seemed too peaceful. The last time I came out here, Damon was here waiting for me. Or expecting me like he said. I took a few steps forward when I heard some giggling. I looked in the direction, it was Lady Seraphine and Damon. They walked slowly along the flower-lined path side by side. They had some distance away from me but I heard that giggle very clearly. My wolf was restless and then my claws shot out from my fingers. I stood still. Maybe I can try again to see if I can hear what they were on again. I thought to myself and prayed for my powers to work. “You are such a—“ The lady’s voice came in again but a sharp pang bit across my ear. I hissed in pain. This stuff was easier when I was much younger and now that I may need it, it’s hard? Why then did it come back. I grit my teeth against my jaw. At that moment, I regretted why I had c
Chapter XV King Damon I stood near the main arena, arms crossed, watching warriors spar in the distance. My wolf was unusually restless today and part of me wondered if all these was a mistake… bringing her to the open, pushing too soon, but another part, the one that had missed five years of my son’s life, shut the thoughts out. Turning my head, I saw Theo arrive with Freya and Scarlet trailing a few steps behind. The boy’s eyes widened at the sight of warriors shifting mid-fight. Perhaps, he was amazed by powerful wolves clashing before returning to human form… I want to believe it wasn’t his first time seeing such things. He stayed close to his mother’s side, but I caught the spark of curiosity in his gaze. I smiled and welcomed them as they got closer. “Dad?” Theo called out softly. The sound hit me harder than any sword blow. I crouched down to his level, keeping my voice steady. “Would you like to watch them train up close?” I asked. Theo glanced at Freya… perhaps
Chapter XIVFreyaThe morning after the feast, the palace felt even more overwhelming. I had barely slept, my mind replaying how those ladies smiled at Damon, touched his arm, and laughed at his minimal responses as if they were the funniest things they’d ever heard. The way he held that lady and danced with her... my wolf was furious. Now, Scarlet and I were walking through the eastern gardens with Theo when the ladies appeared. They moved as if they owned the place, and I almost rolled my eyes. The auburn-haired lady spotted us first and approached with graceful steps. “Lady Freya?… Correct me if I’m wrong,” she said warmly, her voice like honey; I wouldn't even blame Damon if he fell for her already.“That’s correct.”“Oh, I’m Lady Seraphine Valemont. I… heard about your son…” She said, looking at me with those innocent brown eyes that looked deceiving to me.“It must have been so difficult raising him alone in the human world. You’re incredibly strong.” She continued.“And what ex
Chapter XIII King Damon Long tables rasped under the scent of roasted meats, spiced wines, and silver platters piled high with delicacies in the dining hall. The entire court had gathered for the welcome feast, I sat at the head of the main table. My expression remained neutral as the three noble ladies were seated near me. Lady Seraphine Valemont smiled softly from my right, her hair catching the light like warm copper. She spoke gently about alliances and the beauty of the gardens, her voice so soothing. Lady Kaelith Stormrune sat a little further down, her silver-blonde braid resting over one shoulder. She ate with warrior efficiency, occasionally shooting glances my way, it looked like she was assessing me like I was a threat. Lady Selene Viremont, on my left, kept her eyes lowered, offering smiles and soft-spoken compliments. She was a shy one. Lord Varek watched his daughter with barely concealed pride from across the table. I played my role well, polite nods, good
Chapter VII Damon A savage growl tore from my throat. She had hidden my heir. Five years of emptiness… five years of an incomplete bond that haunted me every damn day… all because she ran. That night at the masquerade, the ancient ritual magic had concealed faces, scents, and even the mate bon
Chapter VI Freya My eyes fluttered open to the feeling of cool silk against my skin. For a few seconds, everything was blurry. A thick fluffy blanket pressed down on me, and above my head hung an ornate chandelier with crystal spikes that looked like iron claws ready to strike. Where am I? I
Chapter VFreyaI opened my eyes to the sound of doors closing lightly, but no one else apart from me and Theo was in the car. The car had stopped. My door opened, it was the female standing by the side, looking alert.“We need to run,” she said.I stepped out carefully, holding Theo close to my c
Chapter IVFreya“Don’t be a naughty boy,” I laughed. Theo giggled louder, sending bubbles flying into the air.“Okay, that’s enough—”Suddenly his body jerked. The laughter stopped as his small frame started shaking violently. My heart dropped. “Theo?” A faint gold mark showed at his side face,
