LOGIN"The Elders have chosen. Omega Jessa Malraux walks into the dark woods tonight and she is not expected to return." ★★★★★★ Jessa Malraux has spent twenty-five years being invisible to everyone in Silverwood until the night the Elders decide her life is worth sacrificing. Thrown into the cursed dark woods during a blood eclipse, Jessa expects to die alone. Instead, three powerful Alphas, the honorable Jarek, the charming Cassian, and the cold, cruel Denric, charge in after her and strike a dangerous bargain with an ancient spirit to save her life. The price? All three men must claim Jessa as their fated mate. Now Jessa lives under the same roof as the man who tormented her for twenty years, a flirt who sees straight through her walls, and an Alpha whose quiet intensity makes her forget every reason she built those walls in the first place. The town still wants her gone. The darkness that claimed her is not finished. And three men who never wanted a mate are slowly realizing they cannot breathe without her. But can Jessa finally believe she is worth fighting for before the dark comes back to finish what it started?

Early morning was the best time for me to get my chores done. When the sun was barely peeking over the tall redwoods of the forest around the small town known as Silverwood that was shared among a dozen or so wolf packs, I could get things done without running into too many people. Most shifters who lived here liked to be out all night in the forest, and so slept in late. This morning, though, I sensed someone following me. I had my duffle bag of laundry, heading home after using the laundromat, and I kept hearing snickers behind me. When I turned, there was nobody there. It sent shivers down my spine. Was I going to get jumped again? At twenty-five years old, I shouldn’t be afraid of getting jumped by a bunch of teenagers, but it happened with more regularity than I cared to admit. The other adults, at least, didn’t use physical violence against me. I swallowed hard as I turned again, searching the doorways and alleys closest to me. Still nothing. I sped up, tightening my grip on the cross-shoulder strap of my duffle bag. I only had three more blocks to go before I reached the barracks where I lived with the other Omegas. The others in the packs never went into the barracks, not unless they were looking for someone to fuck. And the best thing about being the most undesirable wolf in town meant nobody wanted to fuck me. The giggle came again, and I whirled. I immediately flinched back when a big-eyed creature zoomed right into my face. It laughed again and backed off. It was the size of two fists put together, vaguely humanoid but with a head far too big for its diminutive body. The big, round eyes took up most of its face while a sharp-toothed smile took up the rest of it. I sighed, adjusting my duffle bag. It was a sewer spirit, one of the little creatures that mainly lived in the drainage and sewer systems beneath Silverwood. “What do you want?” Sewer spirits usually didn’t end up topside like this. It had been raining heavily lately, though, which explained why this one had found itself up here. It bobbed on the spot, surfacing an invisible current. “Can you help me?” the spirit said in a high, sing-song voice. I pressed my lips together, debating. From experience, the spirit wouldn’t leave me alone until it got what it wanted. Our town had a population of less than five thousand people in total, but I was the only one who apparently could see the spirits. I’d been communicating with them from the time I was a toddler. At first, it was laughed off as the overactive imagination of a child. The older I got, the worse the reactions got. By the time I reached high school, I was easy pickings for the other students. It was bad enough that I was an Omega hailing from an Alpha’s family, but I was also a weirdo who talked to myself. Don’t get too close to Jessa Malraux, the students would stage-whisper to each other. Crazy is catching, and she’s Typhoid Mary. “I don’t have time right now,” I whispered to the sewer spirit. “I have a lot to do today.” I only got one day off per week, and I needed it to take care of all my needs. Laundry, a deep clean of my studio apartment, and meal prepping for the coming week. And that was only if my brother didn’t decide that I needed to be punished for daring to be his sister. I’d seen him out with the other Alphas the previous night, and they’d seen me as they left town. One of them, I thought it looked like Denric, shoved Joe’s shoulder and laughed. It might not have been about me, but if it was… “Hey, girlie, I have a busy life, too,” the spirit complained. I turned and headed for the barracks again. The spirit zoomed around me and chomped its sharp teeth. “It’ll only take a few minutes,” it complained. “If you don’t help me, I’ll spend the whole day screaming in your ear.” “Please leave me alone,” I muttered. The spirit started to scream. It bobbed close to my ear, letting out a high-pitched shriek that gave me an instant headache. I growled as I rubbed my temples. “Fine! I’ll help you. What do you need?” I said quickly. The spirit’s grin widened even further, and it zipped away. I groaned softly to myself and jogged after it. It led me away from the barracks, closer to the outskirts of town. There, the bigger houses were with lawns and flower gardens. Where the Alphas lived. I tensed as we got further from the city center. Finally, though, the spirit came to a stop over a drainage grate. I came to a stop, panting lightly. “You have to fix it,” the spirit said, waving a stubby arm toward a pile of rocks. “What?” I set my duffle bag down. “Fix what?” The spirit buzzed around the rocks. “Fix it! Fix it! Fix it!” “Alright, alright!” I cried. I dropped into a crouch and started to rearrange the pile. The spirit quickly informed me I was doing it wrong. The big flat one went on top, not the bottom, stupid! No, the pinky one went to the left. Etc. Etc. I was so focused that I didn’t notice the group creeping up on me until one of them kicked over the pile of rocks. I jumped to my feet as another one grabbed my duffle bag. “What are you doing, Crazy Jessa?” Benji, one of the wolves from my year in high school, asked. He kicked the rocks around in a wide circle. The sewer spirit, invisible to them, dove into the drainage system and watched with its overly big eyes. “Playing with rocks when you should be working?”Kurt POVI leaned over the back of the couch and kissed Ruby’s neck. She sighed slightly as she leaned into me, the book in her hands drooping.“How has your day been?” I asked her.Ruby shook her head. “Same as yesterday.”I frowned as I sank onto the couch next to her. Joe was at the fireplace, lighting a fire; it was very cold in the house. I supposed that with Ruby bundled up in her blankets, she hadn’t felt how cold it was. When I took both of her hands in mine, though, they were like ice.She didn’t look at me, but I could still see the grief written in the lines of her face.If we only knew why Zach had suddenly moved out of the house… it was only two days since that beautiful moment on the mountain, but Zach refused to speak to Ruby, refused to see her, refused to explain why.My wolf howled in mourning to see my mate so heartbroken. I glanced at Joe, hoping he’d have some answers that I didn’t. But just as when we’d left the house that morning, he seemed just as helpless. I k
Zach POV“Yes, I think this would be a great spot,” I said, nodding as I looked at the derelict buildings my pack owned. There were some old Omega barracks close to the town center, ones that had been condemned after the new apartments had opened.“Should we begin tearing down the old buildings?” the head of my construction crew asked.I nodded. “Even if we go for a different spot for the aquatic center, these buildings need to be taken down. They’re a fire hazard.”My wolf was unhappy about leaving the house this morning. After Ruby’s success on the mountaintop and how pure and sweet the magic that surrounded us had been, I wanted to make the images we’d seen come true.We had spent most of the evening going over old plans Joe had made years ago for a town aquatic center—and most of the night engaged in some pleasant exercise. It was doubtful that Ruby was pregnant; logically, I knew that was good. We weren’t in the right spot to adjust to the added complication of a baby in our rela
Joe POVWe were back at our usual spot, the plateau of rock. It was mid-afternoon, the day after the party. I would have liked to have taken the rest of the day to just be together and relax, but when we got home, Ruby was agitated and wanted to start practicing her magic again.“I’m not going to be able to stop the fires from causing more destruction if I can’t control my magic in normal situations,” she’d said.So now we were out here. It was a good day for it, clear and bright, with not a cloud in the sky. The sunlight felt warm, even up here on the mountain. Ruby paced along the rocks, looking for something. She seemed distracted and uncertain. It surprised me. Why was today so different from yesterday?“Are you alright?” I asked finally. “I know you talked with Jessica today. Did she say something to upset you?”My wolf growled at the suggestion. But even as I said it, I knew that it wouldn’t have been Jessica. My mind flashed to my mother. If anyone had reason to make Ruby doubt
Ruby POVIt was too much; it wasn’t enough. I wanted this to last forever. I could die in their arms, and I’d be happy to go, if it meant that this moment would be written in my soul for the rest of eternity. When our orgasms hit, they hit all at once. The pleasure swept through me, making my eyes roll into the back of my head. I felt my mates shuddering around me, felt as their cocks throbbed, felt the heat of them as they released. They continued to pump, prolonging the pleasure as each of them cried my name like a prayer. The snap of magic grew stronger. I felt it pulsing through me like a second orgasm, stronger than the first. My own pleasure was increased threefold as I felt the waves rock through each of my mates. They all knotted, their cocks growing bigger, filling me even further. My orgasm hadn’t faded, and the feeling of their knots inside of me pushed it higher, more powerful.Kurt collapsed over me, pulling his cock from my mouth. His lips and teeth grazed over my sweati
Joe POVRuby lifted herself to one elbow and reached between her legs. “Am I bleeding?”I checked her. She was still slick with the lube. There was no sign of blood. I touched her gently, circling my fingers over her entrance. Satisfaction swept through me as she shivered, her eyes sliding to half-
Joe POV“So perfect,” Kurt crooned as he pushed her pants down. I twisted slightly to glance down. She wore a cute pair of panties with lace along the edges and a little bow at the front.“Better than last time, right?” Ruby asked, catching my gaze.I dipped my hand into her panties, my fingers se
Zach POVThe tension eased from my shoulders as I nodded silently. She wanted me there—and that thrilled me more than I cared to admit.“I’ll be right up,” I promised. Desire swept through me as it sank in what was going to happen. My wolf was beside itself with joy, but was I really ready for thi
Zach POVI smiled at the other Alphas, making a mental note of everyone I’d shaken hands with. Was there anyone I’d missed? I couldn’t afford to offend anyone accidentally at this time. Ah, right. I hadn’t thanked Quinn for his support. Not that he’d given it—but I supposed him staying quiet rather
