“Well, that was a shit show,” I rasped out. I had been busy in my office when I heard a bunch of commotion downstairs. Just as I rounded the corner, I saw lone police officers barging into the club. After that, I saw red as I made my way downstairs to intervene. I knew Lily would make herself scarce the moment she heard the police identify themselves. She knew they were after her and would do anything to get her, even planting false evidence to detain her. I stormed down the stairs, my anger rising with each step. The officers were spreading out, their hands resting near their holsters, their voices echoing through the club. “We’re looking for Lily Johnson,” one of them announced loudly. “If anyone knows where she is, it would be in your best interest to tell us now.” I pushed through the crowd of confused and angry club members to confront the officer who seemed to be in charge. “What the hell do you think you’re doing?” I demanded, my voice booming over the murmurs of the crowd. The officer turned to face me, his expression stoic. “We have a warrant to search these premises for Lily Johnson,” he replied, holding up a piece of paper. “She is wanted for questioning in connection with a serious crime.” “And you think storming in here like this is going to help you find her?” I retorted. “If she was here, which she isn’t, you’ve just scared her off. You’re not finding anyone with these tactics.” “We have our orders,” the officer stated flatly. “Now, if you’ll excuse us, we need to continue our search.” I watched helplessly as they continued, knowing any resistance could escalate things quickly. After they turned the place upside down with no sign of Lily, they finally started to leave, their departure as abrupt as their entrance. The club members began murmuring amongst themselves, tension and anger hanging heavily in the air. Once the police were gone, I headed straight toward Snake, who was standing by the back exit. He gave me a subtle nod, letting me know Lily was still safe. “She’s hidden away. Didn’t catch a glimpse of the cops, thanks to the heads-up,” he whispered. “Good. Keep her out of sight until we know it’s clear,” I instructed. “This isn’t over. They’ll be back, or they’ll be watching. We need to stay sharp and protect her at all costs.” Snake nodded, his face set in a grim line. “Understood, Prez. We’ll keep her safe. You can count on us.” As the club slowly returned to normal, I couldn’t shake the feeling of dread. The police were the least of our worries if they decided to dig deeper. But for now, Lily was safe, and that was what mattered. As I turned around, I called out to Death. “Yes, Prez?” he responded promptly. I noticed my sister, Vicky, walking closely behind him. Ever since she claimed him, though he’d probably say it was the other way around, he’d been different. He was still intimidating, especially when he tapped into that dark place for the club’s sake, but there was a noticeable return of his humanity, something we hadn’t seen in a long time. “Death, a moment,” I said, signaling for him to step aside with me. Vicky gave him a reassuring nod, allowing us the space to talk privately. He approached, his expression unreadable. “What’s up, Prez?” I glanced back at Vicky, who was chatting with some of the newer club members, looking more at ease than I had seen her in months. “How’s everything with you two?” I asked, genuinely curious about his changed demeanor. Death paused, a flicker of softness passing through his eyes. “Good, Prez. Vicky… she’s been incredible. She told me about what went down with Derrick: the verbal abuse, the manipulation. It was rough before she made her escape and came back here.” I nodded, clenching my fists at the memory of what Vicky had gone through. “Yeah, she went through hell with that bastard. It’s a relief to see her finding some peace, finally.” “Yeah, she’s tough,” Death agreed, his voice carrying a hint of pride. “She’s been helping me find some balance, reminding me there’s more to life than just the club and the chaos.” “It’s good, Death. It’s good for both of you,” I said, clapping him on the shoulder. “Just make sure you keep her safe. With everything that’s going on, especially with the cops sniffing around, we need to be careful.” Death nodded solemnly. “Always, Prez. I won’t let anything happen to her.” As we rejoined the others, I watched Vicky laugh at something one of the new members said. It was moments like these, seeing the lighter side of our lives amidst the usual darkness, that reminded me why we fought so hard to protect our own. Vicky and Death, with their unlikely bond, had become a testament to the club’s resilience and the personal battles we each faced.~Nick~“Well, that was a shit show,” I rasped out.I had been busy in my office when I heard a bunch of commotion downstairs. ~lily~As I walked down the stairs, I could feel eyes on me. I looked around, noticing the girls all staring at me, one in particular giving me a nasty glare. I smiled back and continued walking until I heard a small feminine voice behind me. “Your name’s Lily, right?” I turned around and came face to face with a tall, slim female with golden hair and hazel eyes. I smiled. “Yes, I am.” “My name is Jen. You probably don’t know me since I came after you left, but I’ve heard all about you from the other girls.” I looked over her shoulder as the other girls watched our interaction. “Probably bad news, I bet.” “Oh no,” Jen said quickly. “Well, besides Priscilla. She’s infatuated with the prez,” she added, rolling her eyes. I chuckled softly. “Figures. There’s always one in every group.” Jen smiled sympathetically. “Yeah, well, she thinks she owns the place. Just ignore her. The rest of us are actually pretty nice.” I nodded, feeling a bit more at ease. “Thanks, Jen. It’
~nick~ The next day, Lily, Ironhead, Snake, and Death were all in my office. “Okay, listen up,” I began. “It seems that a company named Vehement is trying to sabotage or bring down motorcycle clubs in the area, and they have set their sights on us. Lily here has come to us with information on their moves and also for her protection. It seems the boss of this operation has caught wind of Lily snooping into their files and is trying to either frame her or kill her. So, here’s the plan.” Everyone in the room leaned in concerned about the situation. “We’re going to hit them first,” I said firmly. “We need to gather more intel and find out just how deep this goes. Ironhead, you and Snake will be our eyes on the ground. I want you to stake out Vehement’s main office. Find out who’s coming and going, and see if you can get any leads on their next move.” Ironhead nodded. “Got it, Prez. “Hey, wait,” Snake interjected. “I thought I was on babysitting duties—I mean, security detail, protec
~lily~ I looked at him, expecting him to say something else, but he didn’t. He just nodded and was about to exit. “Wait,” I shouted. He turned back. “Can we talk?” I whispered. He hesitated for a moment, then nodded and turned towards me. I took a deep breath in and let it out. “I didn’t want to leave you. I just wanted to find myself. I mean, all my life, all I have ever known was the motorcycle life. I just wanted to figure out who I was and what I was meant to do. I know I didn’t do it the right way, and I apologize for that. Please, can you forgive me?” I asked, my eyes searching his. He stood there for a moment, his eyes locked on mine. The silence between us felt heavy, loaded with the weight of the past. “I… I get it,” he finally said, his voice softer than I expected. “You needed to find yourself. I just wish you’d told me. We could have figured it out together.” I swallowed hard, tears stinging my eyes. “I was scared, Nick. Scared that I wouldn’t be enough, that this
~nick~ I don’t know what I’m doing. Seeing Lily again brought back memories I thought I had buried and burned. The day I came back to the club after a run, I was so excited to see her. So when they told me she left, I didn’t believe them. Not until I came to her room and noticed that all of her stuff was gone. She didn’t leave a note or anything; she just up and left. Fuck. But who would have thought it was her rerouting our shipments? I knew she was always tech-savvy, but to break into the shipping dock just to get our attention was beyond crazy. Now, here she was, asking me for help. I walked down the hall, heading to the bar to try to clear my head, when I heard her voice. She was talking to Ironhead. Those two always used to be close when she was at the club. I think I broke Ironhead’s nose once when I thought he was fucking her. I stopped outside the doorway, listening. “I know I messed up, Ironhead,” she was saying. “But I’m here now, and I want to fix things.” Ironhead’s
~lily~ I watched him head out, probably going to tell the rest of the guys. I made my way out of his office, Snake following behind. I couldn’t help but look around. The place seemed the same, but it wasn’t. It seemed Nick decided to high-tech the place as I looked at the security cameras around the room. “So, how do you know the prez?” Snake stated, his rough voice startling me. “Umm,” I blushed, “we used to see each other when I was around the club.” I glanced back at Snake and watched as he looked at me curiously. “Sooo, you and the prez used to fuck?” he said bluntly. I rolled my eyes at his crude words. I guess some things never change. “Yes, we used to fuck.” “So you were a club whore and decided to bail out of the business?” he stated. I turned around, irritated at his words. “Look, yes, I was a club whore. Yes, I slept around, but don’t ever think that I ran out. I was looking to better myself, to find out who I really was,” I stated as I spun around and marched off, l
