I open my eyes and surely enough, Mike is standing there with two of his cronies backing him up. Mike is the school’s jock and let me tell you he can’t get any more stereotypical. He dates the head cheerleader, who happens to be a bitch, and likes to bully the outcast crowd. And like any typical bully, he has to have what I like to call his ‘bitches’ back him up. I mean, he already towers over me, do you really need the backup dude?

I grab the keys to my jeep and head uptown, not knowing exactly what I’m going to say except that the bullying needs to stop, now that Ella is mine. The coffee shop is busy for this time of day, but since it’s winter break, the high schoolers are all hanging out instead of being home. I’m sure parents love this time of year, when their already hormonal teenagers are hyped up on caffeine by the time they return home from a long work day. Before I could react, Lucy flipped the table, sending food flying in every direction. Gloria, Michael, Emily, and Wayne all shouted in shock. I looked over at Kyle, who had somehow managed to slip quietly to the door, shaking his head as though he'd already given up. I never imagined Lucy would go this far. I stood still beside her, utterly stunned. With food splattered all over him, Michael bellowed in fury, "This is absurd! This is absurd! I can't believe it!"

Rachael’s voice carries a dreary expression with it. Mrs McQueen takes off her shoulder guard and looks out of the bathroom, “What’s wrong, baby girl?”. Rachael tells her about a bully in school.
