Delgado pinned her there, forearm tight across her chest.
His breath was hot against her ear.
“You never learn, corazón,” he murmured. “Always running toward danger instead of away from it.”
She glared back, shoving at him with everything she had.
“Let go of me.”
He didn’t.
He stepped closer.
Up close, Delgado looked wild—blood smeared at his mouth, a cut leaking over his brow, eyes blown wide with a mix of rage and obsession.
“You ruined me,” he spat. “My business, my men… everything I built.”
